He was originally going to be our MX1 guy, before Ryan Dungey opted back in.

Hopefully nobody gets banged up before then, but we sure do have a great backup just in case.

Tomac has beaten him every moto beside 1 today. Tomac is better. canard wouldn't go even if he wanted to

Canard would go in heart beat if asked - and would leave everything on the track to win it.

I would prefer, as a fan of Canard, that he gets through the last two races healthy, takes some time off, and starts preparing for SX where hopefully he shows up 100% healthy.

Tomac has been better at pretty much every race this year. Canard rode great today though and it will be interesting to see what happens with the factory honda suspension

I know he would, I bet he would love to go. I am saying that everyone else isn't letting him go, he's not in our top 3. If we sent him we wouldn't be sending our best.

Tomac is doing great but Canard is easily his equal. Top that with experience and maturity and Canard seems to be a better choice.

He's not in our top 3? He just handled Tomac, Dungey and KROC. You are acting like Canard is light years behind these riders.

Bro it's one moto at a tough track. Roczen smoked the world at redbuuuud, and now he's struggling a bit. Again it's one moto. Let's just slow down.

Who the fuck are you to tell me to slow down. I asked you a valid question, in which you could not comply. Bottom line, you could send Dunge, Tomac or Canard (a mix of 2 out of 3) and have an extremely viable team. Canard has been on the gas and has upside. You HAVE NOT seen the best Tomac and Canard..

I have to agree on the team. I think Tomac is a better choice than Canard though it must have been a tough decision. Either way it would still be an awesome team

Tomac has clearly been better overall in the 6 races since he came back. Also, the type of track is a factor as well. The MXDN track draws a lot of comparisons to Spring Creek.

Here is the rundown...the number..and this is the sort of thing that RDC looks at:
MC1 - Tomac 22s ahead of Trey. Fast laps about the same
MC2 - Tomac 24s ahead of Trey. Tomac best lap 2.5s faster
RB1 - Trey 5s ahead of Tomac. Tomac best lap 1.0s faster
RB2 - Tomac 27s ahead of Trey. Trey best lap .5s faster
BC1 - Trey 0.9s ahead of Trey. Fast laps about the same
BC2 - Tomac 10s ahead of Trey. Tomac best lap almost 2s faster
SC1 - Tomac 30s ahead of Trey. Tomac best lap 1.5s faster
SC2 - Tomac 27s ahead of Trey. Tomac best lap 1.1s faster
WSH1 - Tomac 45s ahead of Trey. Tomac best lap 1.4s faster
WSH2 - Tomac 1:45s ahead of Trey. Tomac best lap 6s faster (crash for Trey this race)
UD1 - Tomac 18s ahead of Trey. Tomac best lap 2.5s faster
UD2 - Trey 11s ahead of Tomac. Tomac best lap 0.8s faster

This is an imperfect comparison, but if you treat the 12 motos since Eli came back in a cumulative fasion...Eli is 3 minutes and 7 seconds ahead of Trey. He had beaten him 9 of 12 times. Enough said. Eli is the clear choice.

We can also look at points from MC on, when Tomac came back...

KR - 264
RD - 273
ET - 252
TC - 223

Again....ET is the clear choice... Finally, you have consider how hard it is to come back part way through the season and find the pace of they guys. Plus there is also the accumulated test and race setting data that you are down.

I will say that Eli did not look at all like expected him to look today. He did not have that charging Tomac look like we saw at Spring Creek

If things were still like they used to be back in the day with three classes and where the top guys raced the 250 and 500 class the team selection would have been Dungey, Tomac and Canard. They're the 3 best Americans right now. But the class specialization in the 4 stroke era dictates that we send a 250 specialist for that class. If I was picking the team I would have asked Eli and Trey if either one of them wanted to jump back on a 250 and throw down with AC.

Except it is not a true statement. While Eli has won more of the motos between them, Trey has beaten Eli 3 times including
the last moto. I think they are even, but I think Trey has earned it by riding the whole National Circuit and has experience at
the Des Nations. The choice has been made and we have a great team, either choice was good, just don't think one was
better than the other. IMO. As I look at Dirty Mike's statement I realized that nothing he said may be trueHuh

Trey and Eli both have the same MXdN experience, one time each.

anyone doesn't think lots of politics are involved is crazy.

might be simple , Geico Honda might have been more interested than Honda USA.

The pressure will be on ELI for the first time since his 450 debut. Lets hope he can handle it.

I am guessing MXDN Management gave the edge goes to Eli Tomac's Spring Creek 1-1. As stated above, if the MXDN track's soil mirrors the national in MN, Tomac is the better choice. To say Tomac is clear cut better than Canard is intellectually dishonest.

Canard flat out beat the best in the world today. Flat out. Both Canard and Tomac have been causing havoc to Team KTM. Ask KROC and Dunge their opinion.

And Eli.... will be fine. He'll be ready to kick some ass. He is champion and will handle the pressure.
