I was in the South of France last week holidaying, and we saw a poster for a Supercross event at Beauville on Saturday night. Luckily Beauville was only 30 minutes away so we went, with no idea what to expect.
The setting was breathtaking, with the track pretty much suspended on the side of a rocky cliff edge overlooking some stunning scenery. Whilst it was definitely a Supercross track, its been there sometime so had grass on most of it!

Racing took place from 9pm - midnight, with classes for 125s, Vets, National B and National A.
The racing was really good, excitement in every race. 2 bars selling a lot of beer, around a thousand very enthusiastic spectators. Turns out it was the 20th running of the race, but I can find very little about it. Anyone heard of it before? A few pics from my phone-

That's awesome! How long were the lap times?

Something around 30 - 35 secs. There's an extra straight lower down the hill that you can't quite see on my photos

Here they are talking about it a little more. http://www.espritmx.com/actualite-motocross/regional/339/sx-beauville-2…

They said in the article they will make a MX race instead, to use more space. I am not from Aquitaine, a competitive region in MX, often battling with Provence, so I did not know about that SX. I may be wrong but I watched the french calendar and it looks like it is a regional SX, not national one, more for locals/amateurs who are racing in the 100 km area.

There was a national SX race and the track looks different ! http://www.espritmx.com/actualite-motocross/international/340/sx-tour-l…

In all cases I think it looks cool, well the track is too short now but to make SX races for amateurs/locals is great and indeed pictures you took from there are great, there are some similarities with Namur in term of scenery with the fortress/castle on the back !

Thanks for the links,
Yes the National one at La Bosse is a different venue completely,

The Espritmx report is great though, with a really good photo gallery. You can even see me in this one, watching in the black/green hat!

Looks like a really cool thing to stumble across. I shall be heading to the worlds number one tourist destination myself in a few weeks. Anything around Nimes happening first week in Sept?

I live in Nimes, but been pretty much out of the local scene forever. I ll try to look it up. Where will you be staying, right in Nimes?

On sept 6 you got some vintage road racing and some "promosport" (not sure what it is) at the Ledenon racetrack. It's a great place, 20min from nimes.
