It always seemed weird to me to see Johnny O' on a KX. Same with Barnett.

I believe it was 1989. The KTM 250 had issues so he didn't have great results.

He did win his very last race before he retired, though.

The Bolger suspension design. I remember one of the rider (Duhamel?) saying that it worked well, but wouldn't let the bike wheelie.

Good job, Zoom. You are definitely an old mofo....

Chandler over Glover's left shoulder, yes to Myerscough, Moates over Kirschbaum's left shoulder, Reid over Glover's right shoulder, either Masuda or Watanabe over Ward's head (can't recall which one rode 125's that year?).

214 was a guy that raced all around DFW, I think, but I can't recall his name? Who was the other LOP rider in '78 besides Moates??

And yea, some dork sporting 321....

Bigfoot - this is Joe Bolgers design:

You could buy an Ossa with it, as an option. Not just Phantoms, any Ossa. Ossa Trials bikes with the Bolger design were campaigned by Mick Andrews on his return to the brand..

The Kawasaki Parallelogram suspension - "Foobar" - well, you can find a whole bunch of Patents, over many, many years, well into the earliest years of Motorcycling of the design. Buell applied for patents, Lawill and many more, had variations, and sold the designs to others. It doesn't take too high a percentage change in design to sidestep / create a new patent - you've just got to stump up the money, and go into battle, if need be..

There's nothing much new - just variations and refinements on so many designs.

Joe Bolger is one of the greats. I wish I could remember the name of the young (Californian?) bloke that made the Full Floater, who went to battle with Suzuki over many years over the design. I found a picture of his set up, on a bike in the mid 70s - ironically, in a Brit Road Bike magazine. It was so like the final versions of the RM Full Floaters, with the upper rocker lowered, it wasn't funny - but the upper rocker was a trick, tubed / trellis fabrication. One of the many, many pictures I lost in last years computer melt down.

Thank you to so many of you blokes for putting pictures up here - I've been copying many into my (more secure) picture files.

I had this photo on my wall back in the day, damn i wish i had a picture of my room back then, it was a pretty rad design of moto photos covering my walls...not just thrown together. I would lose my best bro and wonder where he was...only to find him laying on my bed just staring at the walls. Cool

Pre four stroke era, when racing was affordable, even local outlaw races had full gates.
