Making a kid's indoor moto track for toy bikes.

Hey guys,

My boy is a little moto nut. He loves playing with toy mx bikes on the floor of his room/lounge/in the bath etc. etc.

Seeing Justin Hill's Moto5 part with the mini sand sx track on a board, I want to build something for him that can be kept in doors.

Sand is out for obvious reasons, but has any of the moto dad's had any experience with building a toy moto track with clay, or any other material?

Something that will dry reasonably hard would be ideal.

Use a modeling clay made from plasticine. It will never set-up and will allow your son to change it up and be creative with the track layout any time he wants...and the toy bikes will leave cool tracks in the clay as he plays with them. Plasticine, like other types of modeling clay, come in just about any color you want and is available in different levels of firmness.

...sounds like a fun project for you and your son!

I was thinking of a clay base, so it will rut up. That last pic is about what I had in mind.

Not sure what moon sand is. I'd do some google work.

I don't know about any materials that can be changed once built but I'm into model railroading and I make my own landscapes out of cardboard strips and plaster cloth. Then I fine tune the look with sculptamold.

I bought a heat gun and some plastic sheets about 12x15 inches, maybe 1/16 of an inch in thickness. Found them on Amazon. I used a cookie grate to stick the sheet through and started applying heat! I built tables, step ups, whoops, burms, and even an over under.

Once my nephew and his brothers got a hold of the track I thought for sure it was toast! But it hung in there and I've been building a few here and there for friends.

But a heat gun works wonders.

Duane and Carson Brown made one out of bondo way back in the day when he was a tyke. I thought it sounded expensive but turned out cool. search really old carsons world on youtube
