15 HP 300 pounds.

She might not be quick but I think she's purdy! Keith Lynas got her back running after a three decade plus nap. This Austrian machine (made by Puch for Sears) is almost ready for a friend of mine to ride for e few months to get the bugs out.

Wicked cool, and I agree, I'd leave her just how she sits.

Twingles have two pistons but the pistons travel up and down the cylinder bores together.

Thanks for the nice words guys. Nothing has been done nor will it be done cosmetically to the frame of this machine. Keith Lynas got all of the varnish out of the tank and got the gunk out of the oils lines and oil injection pump. Waiting on a few odds and ends plus I ordered new points and condenser. Not having any issues now but wanted to replace 50 plus year old parts with new.

The battery is inside those covers underneath the seat plus there is room for some odds and ends. Solo seat is the latest addition for 350. Had a two up seat on it that was roached and after seeing pictures of this machine with the solo seat I knew I HAD to get one.

Bike has new tires, tubes, chain, cables, grips, petcock, new foot peg covers etc for only a mechanical restoration to get this bad boy to the point where it can be ridden. After we get it back from Keith we will service the shocks and forks plus clean and repack the silencers then should be ready for some riding.

Need to get helmet, riding jacket and gloves...WHATEVER you guys do NOT tell my mom I got this. Promised my mom over 43 years ago if she let me race I would never have a street bike. Rationalizing this bike since it is a scooter and not really a motorcycle.

Anyone here buying that?

Very cool engine configuration, Polaris had an even fire 700 twin in there Sportsman ATV. lots of torque and very flat curve. Interesting to see that Puch beat them to the technology by about 40 years.

Polaris is owned by BRP Rotax and here is some background is BRP is in Austria as is Puch. I had the good fortune two years ago to get to drive BRP Rotax engined karts in Germany (BRP is one of my customers) and rode with Norbert Korenjak. Senior R&D at BRP and I believe there was some synergy between Puch and BRP.

I will attempt to get an answer to this synergy question and report back.

If Polaris is owned by BRP, then I'm Bob Hannah. To my knowledge, Polaris and BRP have no relation whatsoever. Yes BRP owns Rotax, it's engine supplier based in Austria.

Down south has it right....twingle it a play on words.....twin....single! Back in the 70s several pro flatrackers twingled the Yamaha 650 twinn motors for the propose of better traction and more controllable power! The most famous of those bikes was one ride'n by a Guy Named Steve Eklund who rode the bike on TT tracks and Harleys on the miles and half miles, in 1979 he won the Grand National Championship with that combination...a little while later in his career, tragically Steve lost his life in a racing accident! One of the best racers I have ever seen..... Great style!

Butch the Puch twingle is two rods off one crank journal . The 650 Yamahas were two pistons firing at the same time but with the crank from a twin unlike the single crank Puch has.

Actually the XS650's ignition fires (wasted spark in one cylinder) at the same time but the cam profile is set up so that power stroke is 360 degree apart.
You can have a cam made to make them fire at the same time but the vibration would break the frame in half.
