Sigma vs Canon 70-200 2.8(non IS)

I have the IS version of the Canon 70-200 and it is phenomenal! That thing has saved my ass for the past couple years. My Rebel in no way takes amazing moto shots. But with that lens on there, its halfway decent. Iveseen photos from a 70-200 without the IS.

Ive been using the Sigma 70-200 for almost 3 years. I shoot action sports of little league for sales to parents.
The Sigma lens is VERY capable.
It may not be quite as good as the Canon, but I've been very happy with it.

My buddy that helps me shoot at times has a Tokina. It surprised me. Its actualy quite good. If the Sigma is as good as the Tokina you will be happy with it..

How much price difference we talking about? And what camera are you shooting with??

Been shooting it for a couple of years. I don't have experience wth the Canon but I can tell you that this lens is great for the money. I have heard that the Canon does focus faster.

I shot with the Sigma for two seasons and loved the lens until it died. Sigma Canada seemed really good about it, sent the lens in and they said it I would have it back in less than two weeks repaired. Many months and phone calls later they eventually replaced the lens because they couldn't get the chip they needed to repair mine. In the meantime I bought a Canon as a replacement.

I still don't think this Canon is any faster to focus or provides any better IQ than the Sigma.

i really like the sigma, havent used the canon though. i prefer sigma, because qaulity is up to par imo with canon, i cant see the difference with my naked eye. i even shoot close-ups with a sigma 2.8 24-70.

Aftermarket glass is cheaper for a huge reason. It's not as good.

I also have the Sigma 24-70 2.8.
That lens is also very good. Image quality is great. It has made lots of money for me over the last couple of years. I use it for portrait stuff mostly. I bought mine used off Fredmiranda.com and it was cheap.

Very happy.

Again, it may not be as good as the Canon, but it's very capable.
