Broke in my new Springfield Mil-Spec the other day. Didn't have a real bench rest so I improvised with a couch cushion, a towel and a cardboard box. Box took it hard. Best I could muster was about 6" at 25 yards. Rob Leatham is not worried. But hey you can't do this in France.

Guns are only one issue, and the gun culture prevails over both parties... your question is both irrelevant and moot.

From your link: "open to argument, debatable; uncertain, doubtful; unable to be firmly resolved. Freq. in moot case, [moot] point."

That's exactly what I meant, and as such it doesn't matter (who I voted for).
That is, regardless how I answer, the issue of guns is going to be debated (because party politics is separate from gun laws) so the question becomes moot (because it's unable to firmly resolve anything).

Moreover, the question is moot b/c the premise implies spoiling a ballot isn't an option Wink

You can claim it is moot but you still feel it would cause you discredit if you answered. Every once in a while in these back and forths I run across a person that is afraid to answer a particular question. Obviously if they felt it put them in a better light they would answer but alas this is not the case as evidenced by your running scared from the question.

The OED acknowledges American usage in its second definition:

2. N. Amer. (orig. Law). Of a case, issue, etc.: having no practical significance or relevance; abstract, academic. Now the usual sense in North America.

Your post is MOOT!!!

edit: And old AFI, saying something is irrelevant AND moot is a redundancy as per above.

Many Conservatives when asked who they voted for will generally say they begrudgingly voted for Romney as he is very moderate and not their first pick. Many on the Left I have seen are very reluctant to say who they voted for. I suppose Obama has made it hard for them to exist freely being the second worst president in the history of this country.

No redundancy, the point becomes irrelevant BECAUSE it's moot. IE, since my voting habits as well as party politics have nothing to do with gun laws, the question of voting then becomes moot since voting and politics are debatable. If voting directly affected gun laws, then you'd be accurate. Spoiling the ballot is an action "open to argument", the very definition of moot that you linked. As such, G asked a moot question.
Does that make sense?

Doesn't make sense. The Left is hard at work at empowering criminals. Is that not why you voted for Obama but are now ashamed? You should grow a pair. Or maybe not? Your call.

hey Tough guy!

I spoiled the ballot,

how do you not understand this?

The question is moot but I don't care to explain the philosophy of ballot spoiling to your macho mind.

I'm going riding tomorrow,

need to sleep.

peace out Mr big balls Laughing

Tuned.... no. I was right on point actually.

oldAFI......"the point becomes irrelevant BECAUSE it's moot".... no..... moot MEANS irrelevant. It's like saying someone is stupid AND unintelligent. They are synonyms. You didn't use moot as described in the first definition(open to argument). You used it in Americanized definition( having no practical significance or relevance).

Someone asked you who you voted for and you said the question was moot. Meaning who you voted for is irrelevant to the subject mater being discussed.

You do realize the only people who rag on Taurus are the ones who have never owned one don't you? Buddy of mine had one at the range (1911) a couple months ago and was hitting good at 15-25 yards. Burned a hundred or so rounds without a hiccup.
Picked up the pea shooter last night. Gonna take it out and run a few boxes thru it today. My wife is taking a liking to this dang thing, methinks it might get commandeered. Huh

I would guess if you are the one doing the asking, you might learn the reason people don't answer you has more to do with you than anything else.

I had a thread not to long ago called "Right of Center". It was called that as I had the idea that this board is right of center over all. What I found was this board has far more conservatives than liberals. Far more. The one thing that could have affected the results is this problem of getting Obama voters to admit they voted for the guy. Look above, I point out this problem and get a personal attack. Now of course getting a personal attack from a Left Winger is a welcome sign that one may be onto something.

Again, I think you need look no further than the mirror to understand why you get the replies you do.

So your definition of a liberal is anyone who voted for Obama?

LOL..... You are a Fox news watcher I can assume then.

Murder murder murder, kill kill kill!

I'm just over it.

We've been doing this since we were monkeys. Luckily I am not a minority otherwise public places would be a haven of flying bullets.

What if that Marine's bullets would have ricocheted and hit a child (or any innocent shopper/passerby)?

I oppose this shooting for the same reasons I oppose gang shootings: innocent bystanders.

Public places are not the right venue for shootouts and if you don't like it go live in Compton and feel free to shoot your own countrymen just like the pigs.
Holy shit... I don't even...
