MASTER52 and associates want to build the greatest track in America (located in Northwestern Florida)

MotoX85 thanks, that means a lot coming from a 27 year vet. Hopefully this gets going so we can have a nice place to ride down here.

Huck, do you have any idea as to why those tracks got shut down? I'm sure funds just ran low, that's pretty much everyone's reasoning to stop anything with motocross unfortunately. But, regardless, I'm curious. If this thing gets moving we sure could use a forum celebrity like you to help us out and spread the idea.

The first one got gobbled up for a WM supercenter, or something.

The second one, I wasn't sure. You had to go way back off the interstate, through what looked like a failed real estate development. The track was awesome though. Had some natural terrain to it. Even had a full irrigation system.

If you get it up and running...I'll make an appearance there...if Todd will be there!

I don't know if you know who Jason and Kyle Hussey are, but they along with the help of Tracy Freeman and Matthew Sweeney will put Dream Traxx to shame.

Not sure about putting dream trax to shame, but I would definitely say they would be on par or better. Dirt Addiction LLC, I have seen those guys build works of art for sure and in probably half the time of most. If you have those guys building for you, you surely don't need my skills.

Well I have no questions what the track will look like now. Want to see one of the best non-pro backyard track in the country, google Sweeney MX

Try Riverside in Dothan, Al
http://riversidemotocross.net
Someone might be able to take over the lease at West Fl. Mx Park. I am not sure if their
closing had to do with the rumor that the bank was getting all the property back at
Walton Plantation, which the park was part of.

Yes, I did join the Air Force. I'm am currently stationed near Pensacola and I'm amazed that there isn't a good facility down here to ride. The sand is amazing here and holds moisture longer than any sand I've ever seen besides southwick. Hence why I'd like to start something in this area. Obviously I can't leave the area either, since I have a commitment to uphold.

There used to be a couple tracks just east of Pensacola. First one was in a "pit". I think it was in Milton. Pretty fun track. Then the land was sold and it moved a little more east. That track was awesome. LOTS of sand. West Florida MX is what I think it was called. I believe it's been shut down for a couple years now.... The owner had big plans with a main track and a SX/AX track as well.
Craig Woolard had the track in Milton ( Pit, Gateway & Then West Fl) and moved it to Mossy Head
He moved farther down south and leased or subleased to Kevin King, I believe.
Like I mentioned in my previous post, not sure why he shut down.

I grew up in that area (Florala, AL) and during the 70's and early 80's there were tracks everywhere. Just between Pensacola and Panama City there were tracks in Pensacola (3), Navarre, Milton (2), Wausau, Mossy Head, Panama City, DeFuniak Springs, and Wing, AL. That doesn't count the numerous tracks south of Montgomery, AL. Of course things at Eglin AFB were expanding, Vietnam was coming to an end, and Pensacola NAS was booming. One of the best tracks in the US was located in Cantonment. It was operated by the local Maico dealer, who unfortunately died an untimely death in a Corvette and that was the end of that. The land is still there but development is encroaching on it.

The problem today is two-fold. The military owns much of the land in NW Florida and what they don't own is developed for housing or tourism. Plenty of land in lower Alabama, but the economy SUCKS and no one has any money so there are very few riders in the area on a permanent basis. The West Florida track is only about 10 miles from my hometown, but it's not close to any population center that has gainful employment. That probably helped contribute to it's demise. It's a shame because I used to race with Woolard at the Pit.

I would love for the area to have another good track or become like Tallahassee and be a center for training. I just don't know if the local economy will help you do it. It's a shame because that landscape is God's Country.

Socket....I think you need to take a step back and re-think that comment. Talking about a future track is NOT spam! Selling shit on here is , or posting links to gain money......but a track? C'mon dude sheesh.

It would be awesome to have another place to ride around here, pickings are pretty slim. Especially if it is the "greatest track in America". Dirt is fantastic, just really flat.

Why would anyone build anything in Florida?

The place is full of drug addicts and criminals (white collar and regular types) and there is no economy other than shipping up oxycontins to the northeast
