Lacing Wheels

Anyone know how to lace the back wheel on a 2012 honda crf250r? There are shorter spokes and longer spokes and I don't know what goes where. Do the shorter spokes go on the inner holes or the outer? Help me out guys!

Short spokes on the outside holes.
Long spokes on the inside holes.

Lace the outside spokes on both sides of the wheels first, then lace the inside spokes. Much easier this way!

By inside holes, you mean the ones closer to the center of the hub, correct?

Did you remap when you removed your air filter screen?

No disrespect to you BUT with a question like that I don't think you should be lacing your own wheels. It's a tricky business to get right and from a monetary and safety point of view you should rather take it to someone who is experienced.

Maybe you can watch the guy lace and true the wheels and learn for future.

Most broken rims and hubs are the result of incorrect wheel maintenance..... Just saying...

I do not agree. Outside, inside, outside inside is the proper order. Watch a few YouTube videos to get you started.

Getting them trued well takes a few wheel sets for practice. But you cannot never learn without trying. As long as you get the proper cross lacing pattern and get everything tight you'll be fine

Yes, the method you describe is how I learned as well. Both methods work for me.
I've laced lots of wheels, including the ones that win the Baja1000.

Lacing a wheel is easy. It takes no real mechanical skill.

Use a little brain power and try it. If 16 spokes fit, and 16 don't, you probably have it wrong. Put the wheel on the bike, take the brake pads out and start truing. Watch youtube for tips.

Be sure to tighten and check the spokes after each ride. I recently laced rims to my yz, and every spoke was loose after 5 minutes of riding. Proper torque will keep the wheel true.
