Believe it or not I've raced there!!! What's even more crazy is that I had basically the exact same experience! lol
Maybe Jeff can correct me, but from the moment I started watching that vid I was getting goose bumps thinking it was the exact same track I raced on in the Dominican Republic 'just a few years ago" (Ahem......like '98 actually
Anyhow, as some of you know, I've raced in some pretty crazy places in my day, but oddly enough that was the only time they DIDN'T like me/cheer for me because I was an American. From Indonesia, to Brazil, Japan, Chile, and many, many more, I was always treated like a rock star because I was from America!
Glad you made it home safe Jeff! Thanks for the awesome trip down memory lane!

No wonder Jeff was reluctant to chime in...lol

Paul937 : Dude.....thanks for that awesome write up man!! Really cool hearing racing stories like that.
Everything about that event is chaotic!
The initial video was great.
Then comes the east bound & down reference (which is the "vital one-liner of 2014 so far).
And then Paul's cool story.
Then Jeff gets flag slapped by the flagger ( which had me in tears for a solid 5 minutes)
And the icing on the cake....armed guards in the pits hahahahaha
I am sold. I now want to watch a international race series where we send Hanny, JLaw, Jeff, and a few more around the world to race in odd 3rd world locations where the crowds are crazy and the hookers.....er....I mean, tracks, are skinny and beat.
"Its not about who wins the series, it's about surviving"
"the practice time has been expired and the little kids are on the track, pacheco (race organizer) say, your time is over, you can't practice."
This whole thing is frickn crazy. I can't believe the spectators so close to/on the track. Jeff and some dominican midget getting into a fight, and the armed guards!!! Wow!!!
Eastbound and Down reference/pics were all winners.
Post a reply to: Jeff Alessi and Ray mejia.....crazy racing here.
