I have more than a few, and I need to buy a safe to stick em' in. Any benefits of a digital lock compared to a manual dial? I'm somewhat leaning to a dial (I already have a little safe with a dial) but digital seems to be easy. Any pros and cons to either one in your experience?

Dials suck in the dark, just something to think about. If someone is in your house you don't exactly want to turn a light to make sure you are hitting the right numbers under all that stress would be harder than you think. If this is for the bedroom that is.

As for dial, key, illuminated dial pad or Biometric,it just depends.
Like the poster above said, dials suck in the dark and QR - you need a flash light also if you dont want to turn the lights on.
Key's arent so bad - but can be a pain if you lose them or cant find them.
Biometric - you have to make sure you keep good batteries in it.
Same with a lit/illuminated dial pad.

You might want to get 2 depending on what you want.
Own like a big dial to store most your weapons in to secure them from theft ect.. also put a dehumidifier in it.
And then put your QR(quick reaction) weapons in something like this under your bed,in a closet or even in a window seat.

On a side note...
These are neat for hidden storage....one day I'll buy one.

Electric touchpad and no regrets yet. Dials are so last century, next thing people are going to be wanting is dials on their cell phones. Smile

Get a safe that's got a good fire rating, at least 3/16 steel and if you are spending big money, a stainless inner tub just in case they get through the outer. External hinges will let the door swing 180 degrees instead of just 90. You will end up storing important papers, money, your kids coin collection, the wife's jewelry and other misc. non gun items including spare mags, ammo , binoculars.....so, most importantly get one considerably larger than you think you need. You really can't have one too big. I wanted a larger one than I got but the quality of construction was less(lighter) on many.

Got a selection of rifles with scopes? Check out Browning safes. While I don't like the designs on the door(I would repaint it!), the interiors on some of their safes are damn sweet. Rifle racks on the door with scope pockets recessed into the door are a great idea. Their interior shelving is metal with a rubber coating and have a lot of adjustable configurations. They even have an option of cedar on the interior. I probably would have nailed down one of those had they had the larger ones available when I was shopping.

Best part about a huge gun safe is all the fun you'll have filling it up with more guns! Wink

For the BIG gun safe get a dial as you shouldn't be in a big hurry to get in it,for the "need protection FAST" safes get a touch pad or Biometric and have the same code for all of them...........................and who you calling a freak ? lol

For quick access nothing beats a "no safe". As long as kids aren't around.
