Newbie and his 86 CR250

Edited Date/Time 1/1/2014 8:23am
Hello all.. I just grabbed my "new" 86 CR250, got it for a song.. (bartered) needs some TLC, I have loved these they came out when I was in H.S. I'll be riding it plenty this year, some local races and for fun. It will take some getting used to, way different than my XR.. very excited about this one. Not sure how or why it ended up with a blue frame, it's a quality job, I can't find a lick of red on it, looks deceivingly factory, it's got to go, however. Thanks, I'll update it as work progresses.

Good looking bike! Is that a Land Rover Discovery? I use to have one and I actually kept my '87 KX 250 inside the back of it, haha. There are a lot of knowledgable people here who will help out if ya have any questions while you are tinkering with your Honda.

Charlton.. Hodges? I could use a riding partner. Yeah it was on CL buried in the barter section. I traded for it.. so basically free to me. I need to sort out a few items, (car horn button for kill switch, some missing hardware, THE BLUE FRAME.. I might figure out the spring rate and replace it for my weight. 220 with all my gear. A new set of tires, carb rebuild, fork boots..) that should do it. If I don't get around to the frame this winter I'll wait until next. I plan to run a few JDay races this season.

Yeah that's the wifes DII SE7.. I have an older Range Rover and I got my daughter an early Discovery to bang around in. But my daily driver is a 74 Series III 88", I was a Land Rover tech for awhile. I have a good grip on the bikes, I just need to suss out a few items. I had 2 76' CR250's an MT250, and XL500r, XL125r, I restored a 78 Husky CR390 and had 2 WR390's and a 74' WR250 and currently ride a XR250r.. I should be in good shape with this one once I get used to riding a 2 stroke. I never got around to riding the Husky's I sold them once I was finished with them, and frankly the 390 scared me.. I won't be restoring this just getting it in good shape and enjoying it, I'm not much of a restore it kind of guy.

Here' my Landy..

Thats a good looking Land Rover. I had an '04 Disco II SE5. Had a love/hate relationship with ole Lana (thats the name I gave her, haha). I ended up selling it because I moved to Europe and ended up buying a 2012 F-150. But I do miss the old Disco from time to time. I just couldn't believe how much room there was in the back. Like I said, I kept my old kx in the back on a tarp with the wheels off. As far as parts for an older mx'er, I've found most of the parts I need on eBay or by calling local dealerships. Enjoy the bike and the Landy :-)!
