Some people here said that Stefan didn't show respect to RC when he was beaten in the 03 des Nations, but here is what Stefan said that day.

"This has been a very special day for me," said Everts. "To win the Motocross des Nations in Belgium and in front of the King is a dream come true. I didn't have any problems with my riding in the final. I made the holeshot and rode at my own pace. I'm so happy, but maybe a little bit of me is disappointed that I didn't win the race. It has been great to have the Americans here today. They bring prestige to the event and that is important for European Motocross. Ricky was faster than me today -- hopefully he will return for a rematch next year!"

Geoff,

Move on! That was almost 5 years ago and we're pretty sure that Stefan does have respect for Ricky. Right at the time, he said that he was disappointed that he didn't beat Ricky, but nobody is happy when they get beat.

The only time I recall anything remotely disrespectful was prior to the Budd's Creek gp the year Windham won. And I really thought that to be made up or at least embellished. The truth is that, Stefan has been the one disrespected in general. People forget the ONLY time RC ever got lapped while he was on a running bike, was by Everts.

I believe that was also the same year that he said in an interview that he was at a disadvantage because he was on a 4-stroke and Ricky was on the 2-stroke. Nobody is immune to making excuses.
