Jerseys in Pro Mx events

NFL fans wear an abundance of jerseys at games. You would think fans would do the same for Mx riders. I'm surprised SX doesn't have a team shop where you can buy replica Jerseys....

Of course if they did I'm sure none of the money would go to the actual riders anyway.


If they started that you could easily pick out which fans who actually race at a pro Supercross event. Because we all know it's taboo to wear a mx jersey to a SX event!

Why is taboo in MX but not in the NFL?

The riders wear a different jersey just about every time they are on the track to show off the gear manufacturer they ride for. MX is not a stick and ball sport.

they (thor, fox, etc.) used to sell replica jerseys, I imagine they didn't move very well or there would be much more available

Peer pressure... in football you're sitting in the stands with 59,999 other people rooting for the same team wearing the same colors... if you're seen outside the stadium wearing the jersey you still belong.... if you wear a Canard jersey at a SX, you're an alien to 30% of the crowd and that jersey makes you look like a huge dork outside the stadium.... There's also the fact that your jersey would be outdated less than 6 months after your purchased it at $60+... Thor was even selling t-shirts with names/numbers on the back one year... I guess they didn't sell well either.

But people buy those ugly event t-shirts from MotoTees... I guess they're more proud of 'UNADILLA 2008' than they care about a specific rider...

I like the local Houston moto chodes at the SX who wear the cotton 1990's fox jersey(that didn't fit then and still doesn't fit now), the high dollar jeans with rine stones and crap, and the spiked hair and visor.

Difference is, that 40 year old guy has a couple of bikes in the back of that Chevy Luv... Most likely a vintage Hodoka and a newer KTM 450 or 2 stroke and he's on his way to or from racing/riding while you are just making a quick snack run because you ran out of Cheetos and Monster while posting on Vital.

hah! great point, i never thought about that. every sunday i wear my Calvin Johnson jersey all day (to lunch, friends, etc.)

everyone that attends a motocross or supercross race is usually much cooler, less bro, more core, etc... to be caught dead in a jersey at a race. hell, i've thought it myself "look at this joey in his jersey"

pretty hypocritical of myself really... i may have to rethink this in the future

Wearing an MX jersey to a race is like wearing a pink sweater to a metal concert. The only ones who can get away with it are hot chicks.

Would there be a difference in wearing your own jersey saying look at me, compared to say an RV2 ? Also if your kid is with you wearing his, it might cut down some on the dork factor.

A long time ago there was a full page article about the "jersey guy" in a magazine. I think it might have been in playground? Wish I could find it, it was funny stuff.
