The RPM Ice Cube cylinder big bore kit does not run hot. It cost more, but will last longer and not run hot.

I know it's too late but just wanted to say X2 on the Ice Cube Cylinder! When you bore the stock cylinders more than 2mm over the cylinder walls get thin and warp easier and can crack. The old CRF250 cylinders (pre 2010) used to crack with 2mm over bore, the new ones got more meat but 3mm is pushing it. A longer rod would help along with keeping the engine running cooler (high flow water pump, high pressure rad cap, larger rads, oil cooler, oil filter cover with cooling fins, better coolant).

Moto314; the cylinder works kit is not a stock cylinder. It's cast in the USA, and plated by millennium tech. Who makes a good high flow water pump for the CRF? I did go with engine ice as well, even though it won't be hot enough right now for worries, come the summer in AZ, it definitely will be.

Had the bike out today, even though rain has ruined our areas. Just putted around the pits for another heat cycle/break in.

Set the idle, no more hanging idle anymore. I guess I had it CRANKED up when it was all stock; I set it to 2100 or so when it was new, and never messed with it since. I started it before I put the mods on, and it was still idling right there at 2100. Same setting, this thing wanted to idle at 5K!

Turned it down to about 1800 or so, and she purrrs....certainly barks loud though! Screams LOUD now!...

I need an exhaust, any opinions what's best?

I would either go with PC or yosh. I haven't met a person who didn't love the yosh pipes on a honda

I had a Yosh with this setup and I liked it and it's not too noisy (like PC or FMF).

I just couldn't stomach the price, for what most dyno's have shown to be not much for HP. I did the full system is a supporting mod for the other work...and anything more than $250 was a hard sale except the FMF.

Just wanted to give a final verdict on the 270 kit.

It's pure heaven. The bike absolutely RIPS. I didn't lose "anything" anywhere; I gained HUGE bottom end, MASSIVE mid range, and the top end just SCREAMS.

In every gear, the bike pulls much, much harder. I would say now though, the bike can be ridden in more than just one style, and is a lot more comfortable. The combination of the cam, 270 kit, and the DRD full system really made a massive difference in how the bike pulls, and reacts in all situations. Where the bike had big wheel spin, it now hooks, where the big lugged a bit, it screams.

The power is much, much smoother. It has a very linear pull, and I have to watch it, as in a roller section, I almost ended up on my back in 4th gear. The over rev has improved significantly, I don't find myself randomly hitting the limiter in some slower sections, and find I can ride a gear higher, and not worry about not having the power.

It also felt great when I lit FGR01 with some massive roost....heh.
