This will be my first race as the "pit crew" for my buds and I want to make a good impression. It's a 2 man 3 hr. race. The basics I have covered are tools/spare parts. What I'm looking for are tips to keep them going for the duration of the race. So far my list consists of: 5 gal. H20 and a pitcher to toss on them, aspirin, and bananas. How far do you mx wrenches go for your riders?

I would like a fresh pair of goggles at some time. I would ask about the pitcher toss in Nov. in KS. Please don't spill gas on my crotch.

I would include a stand for the bike (incase of a flat or at lest to a quick chain lube), then also some mechanic gloves and brake pads (both front & rear).

It is actually going to about 65 deg. by the end of the race. I know I sweat like hell at that temp while riding, just trying to cover all possibilities. Thanks for the gassy crotch tip! I can see myself doing that.

If its 65 degrees you will not need to dump water on them. I think this would hurt more than help. Maybe extra pair of gloves in case of muddy situations. Towel to wipe off grips, faces etc. Duct tape zip ties etc.

I have raced multiple team events in harescrambles. One thing is have fresh goggles and a cold rag ready for the guy getting off the bike. Make their time off the bike super relaxful if possible. Also know when your pit window is and get an idea as to whos doing what job at the pit stop. Generally you want to keep a good eye on the clock and if they are running an over-sized tank gas them at the hour and a half. The pit stop is ussually going to be the most hectic but always keep a rachet with an 8mm and 10mm close by for any needed adjustments

So far I have:

Tool box with tools, d-tape, z-ties, etc. (I'm a master mechanic by trade.)
Small air compressor w/tools
Air bubble
Stand
Box of fluids, lube, spare parts.
Squirrel cage fan
DC/AC power inverter
Camera
Cool down water, YES I WILL NEED IT!
Food and cooler
Medicine / first aid kit
Plenty of towels
Comfortable chairs
2 pairs of goggles and gloves
A tarp for shade

Just finished packing the truck. Thanks guys for all your input. The few items not listed such as extra gas will be the responsibility of the riders. AJ, we will be racing a 2003 kx125 and I don't think we will make it to the 1/2 way point with a stock tank. Will probably have to refill during the pit window. Any last minute items I forgot?

Googles, gloves, zip ties, duct tape, extra gas, 8mm 10mm t-handles. Should be all you need. should make it half ways on one tank unless you have a AA rider in sand on that 125.

Just one B and one C rider at the least. You're right on the sand part. No sand on the track, but the last time we rode together it was mostly sand and I had to go back to camp and bail him out that's why I was worried about fuel. Thanks, everyone!
