I pulled this out of my uncles barn. Hasn't been started in 15 yrs. Cleaned inside gas tank, carb, and installed new plug and it fired right up! pipe was shot so found a snake pipe off ebay, Suspension is shot and I wanna bring it up abit for adult fun. Wondering what my best options are without spending $500 on Works shocks. What yrs would XL swingarms fit?

If you can find a set of 11.75" Boge Mini shocks, they fit perfectly. I picked up a NOS set off ebay for $75 and they work great on the twin shock XR's.

Those pipes sound sweet and throaty, nice choice. Your bike has early CR80 forks on it and would work well if rebuilt and sprung for your weight.......

Like CamP said, find the Boge shocks...I have a set on my 1977 XR75 and they work great...

If you are talking about an XL100 swinger, you need one off a 79-85 XL100S. I know a guy who has one if you're looking....

Nice find Bart! That snake pipe is trick! I am a little bias towards the '78....I traded my '74 MR50 in for a brand new one back in the day. Brings back good memories! The rear shocks off of the 1980-81 CR80R also fit on the XRs and add a little seat height.

I wish I still had it!

Ok I found a swinger on ebay from a 79 XL100 with pivot bolt for $59 including shipping. You sure that'll fit ok? I've been looking for a set o Boge shocks, no luck yet. What is the max rear spring height I can go. The CR80 forks fit great, but are super soft so I gotta figure out how to stiff them up to a 180lb rider.

Not sure if this will help you or not....but I weigh about 180lbs too, and I put 35mm forks off of a 1989 CR80R on my XR80 with the optional .310 springs from Honda, and I run about 10lbs of air in them. That is the best I could get without spending a ton of money. Do your CR forks have air caps?

Here's a set of Boge mini shocks. These don't come along very often so get them while the getting is good. http://www.vintagemx.us/cgi-bin/largephoto.cgi?C=8wMvw5X6BwWnY32V

Hey thanx Cam. The stock size is 12in as it sits so i think Ill need longer shocks. I got my XL100 swinger in last nite so I'm going to make sure it fits and measure the rear travel that I'll need to even it out with the front. I'm guessing I'll be looking for 14 inches or so. Might get tricky finding shocks that long. Also my rear swinger didn't come with a rear axle and spacer so it looks like I'll be hunting that down. Next up is new seat foam and cover, try and pop a few dents out of tank, then paint. It makes for backyard fun, as we now have 2 nice berms! Tongue

Well pulled this 1980 XL100 swinger out of box and noticed there's no way this will fit a XR frame!

Post a picture of what you have...it may not be what the seller claimed it to be? I have one to compare it to...
