anyone else getting this on opening day?

my copy is already pre-paid, just waiting to call in sick on Tuesday morning and get started. been looking forward to this one since i found out it was returning to Los Santos (GTA San Andreas was by far my favorite of the series).

i've been hooked on these games ever since the very first GTA and GTA London. GTA 2 was epic, anyone remember Rampages?!

not sure how into the GTA series you guys are, but i picked this book up the other day and haven't been able to put it down. pretty cool look into GTA, Rockstar, and the entire process behind the start of the series and the creators, Jack Thompson trying to shut them down, etc.. awesome read

everything i've read is pretty positive that this will not be on next gen.

but if current gen games are compatible on the 4, then i don't know why you couldn't play it on the 4

Heard from someone at Rockstar, PS3 games are not compatible on the 4.
He said they would be smart to have it in the near future for the 4 but did not know if that was in the works yet. Those guys are really secretive.

I guess this is some kind of leaked image or something confirming (unofficially) that it will be on PC and PS4.

that's awesome, the place I pre-ordered doesn't have a midnight release... so i'll be leaving work at noon tomorrow.

fuck i love geeking out over a videogame, especially one as epic as GTA

haha. youre probably right. Ill play mx sim while GTA is installing.
You wont be fucked, you just wont have the latest updates/ bug fixes. Every new game Ive ever played has had a patch at launch. They get the disc's ready so far in advance that they keep working on the game up till launch time.

Picked it up at Tesco for £32 a minute ago, which is surprisingly cheaper than what Amazon wanted (usually the other way round in my experience). Installing now Woohoo

Yeah the install takes an age but man, the game is crazy fun! The missions really open out in complexity after a few hrs. The way you can switch between characters in an action sequence or through parts of a mission (or in fact any part of the game) is a stroke of pure genius. Graphically, again I'm amazed at what they can still get out of the last gen consoles at this point. I'm playing on a 360 and though the resolutions aren't high, the attention to detail more than makes up for it. Wondering down to that pier on the south west side of the above map; I think those are the best seaside waves Iv'e ever seen in a game. Also trail biking in the mountains is spectacular. Remarkable work.

For anyone on 360 - Rockstar unsurprisingly recommend that you install the "install" disc, but DON'T install the play disc. Iv'e followed that advice and haven't had any FPS slowdown or graphical anomalies thus far.

it's awesome. it really reminds me a lot of GTA San Andreas (with good reason...). one of the first things i did with Franklin was hit the giant half-pipe on the BMX bike, it's rad. i messed around with the half pipe for about 20 minutes trying spins and flips. it's not as fleshed out of a mini game as the golf or tennis, but it works the way you would expect.

i planned on playing for about 3-4 hours last night, got home around 6:30 and seriously kept playing until after 2. i couldn't put it down. the first hour or so is a little slow and tough to get the controls, but you pick it up and it becomes much more fun and functional.

customizing the guns is awesome. haven't messed with customizing any cars yet. completed the first heist from all the trailers (jewelry store). i just met Trevor and did a few of his missions and holy shit... he's going to be very entertaining, calling him a psycho is an understatement. also, switching characters is very very cool.

i also like the random events from Red Dead Redemption thrown in here. i walked into a clothing store and a robbery was going down, waited till they left and gunned them down and collected their bank. the last couple hours last night i was just flying around and exploring. ps... pick up a prostitute and go through all three "services"... holy shit i can't believe what they got away with LOL

i can easily see 50+ hours in this one. i'm already around 6 in and have only completed a tiny portion of the story missions.

haha, i played the strip club mini game for about 10 minutes last night... if you fill the meter you can take the stripper to her place. after, it gives you her contact in your phone and you can call her for a booty call.... too funny

Yeah the game is awesome. I've been playing it for awhile and haven't done the heist yet cuz I'm still finding new shit to do. The paparazzi mission is funny, you get to shoot a sex tape. Also, I went exploring in the "country" portion and heard Danny McBride aka Kenny Powers has his own talk show that's pretty funny. Thanks for letting me know about the BMX thing, I'll have to try that out!

little advice...

don't kill the prostitute and try to steal your money back after she gets out of the car in the Ballers' territory... i got rushed by probably 20 pissed gang-members and didn't stand a chance. pretty intense though. [edit... worked like a charm with a silencer]

also, one random thing... i got out onto the Airport strip to try to steal a plane when the police helicopter chasing me flew into the path of the 737 landing and exploded them both in spectacular fashion... it's these kind of occurrences that makes the world feel that much more alive and unscripted

That one's pretty good Peely. I haven't got the game yet, undecided whether I wanna DL it off PSN or buy the disc. Figure if my PS3 eats shit it would be nice to have it on disc, but if I get a PS4, since it allegedly won't play PS3 games, maybe I can re-download it to the PS4 through my PSN account? Anyone know if that would even work? I like this vid too. lol
