anyone else getting this on opening day?
my copy is already pre-paid, just waiting to call in sick on Tuesday morning and get started. been looking forward to this one since i found out it was returning to Los Santos (GTA San Andreas was by far my favorite of the series).
i've been hooked on these games ever since the very first GTA and GTA London. GTA 2 was epic, anyone remember Rampages?!

but if current gen games are compatible on the 4, then i don't know why you couldn't play it on the 4
He said they would be smart to have it in the near future for the 4 but did not know if that was in the works yet. Those guys are really secretive.
97 out of 100 from over 20 professional reviews... not too shabby

fuck i love geeking out over a videogame, especially one as epic as GTA
that said, ain't no fuckin' way you're going to get it at midnight, install it, and not play it for at least an hour LOL... i know i would
Pit Row
You wont be fucked, you just wont have the latest updates/ bug fixes. Every new game Ive ever played has had a patch at launch. They get the disc's ready so far in advance that they keep working on the game up till launch time.
For anyone on 360 - Rockstar unsurprisingly recommend that you install the "install" disc, but DON'T install the play disc. Iv'e followed that advice and haven't had any FPS slowdown or graphical anomalies thus far.
i planned on playing for about 3-4 hours last night, got home around 6:30 and seriously kept playing until after 2. i couldn't put it down. the first hour or so is a little slow and tough to get the controls, but you pick it up and it becomes much more fun and functional.
customizing the guns is awesome. haven't messed with customizing any cars yet. completed the first heist from all the trailers (jewelry store). i just met Trevor and did a few of his missions and holy shit... he's going to be very entertaining, calling him a psycho is an understatement. also, switching characters is very very cool.
i also like the random events from Red Dead Redemption thrown in here. i walked into a clothing store and a robbery was going down, waited till they left and gunned them down and collected their bank. the last couple hours last night i was just flying around and exploring. ps... pick up a prostitute and go through all three "services"... holy shit i can't believe what they got away with LOL
i can easily see 50+ hours in this one. i'm already around 6 in and have only completed a tiny portion of the story missions.
don't kill the prostitute and try to steal your money back after she gets out of the car in the Ballers' territory... i got rushed by probably 20 pissed gang-members and didn't stand a chance. pretty intense though. [edit... worked like a charm with a silencer]
also, one random thing... i got out onto the Airport strip to try to steal a plane when the police helicopter chasing me flew into the path of the 737 landing and exploded them both in spectacular fashion... it's these kind of occurrences that makes the world feel that much more alive and unscripted
