Didja read where WORCS promoter Sean Reddish failed to act on changing his WORCS schedule, and the result is that the first ISDE team that has a shot at winning will never get to race? Sounds pretty crappy to me.

Ya Sean killed it...

A) Going on 5 years the race in Utah has been held on Labor Day weekend and its not like there is anything that says a WORCS rider or riders were going to be on the team. When he scheduled the race in November of 07

Cool What about the other Pro's and Teams that set their schedules?

C) Why should the track owner and the town have to lose their event?

D) This isn't the first "dreamteam" we sent to the ISDE. Ask Ty Davis to give you a history...

E) The factories all agreed the event should go on as scheduled.

It's a bummer no doubt but its not Sean's fault.

The way I read it, Sean was aware of it back in December and didn't act. Some factories are not happy with the decision. Kawasaki's Jason Smigel said everyone seems to want to see the ISDE team go. KTM's even trying to buy off Sean for his financial losses so that the team can go. Heck, Kurt Caselli, the WORCS champ and the guy who organized the team sounds extremely pissed. What really surprised me is that Sean never told the track owner, Joe Barton, about it so they could negotiate a solution.

Sounds to me like Sean doesn't think beyond his pocketbook and his series.

John,

The team was not chosen until February of 2008 well after the agreement with Bull Hollow was made. Why would Sean change the event from it historical date prior to any knowledge of who was on the team?
Even after the annoucement in February, there are a whole bunch of riders that the ISDE means nothing to. There is a whole lot more to changing the event than people are making of it.

Smigel also said that Dietrich will ride the WORCS, it is Kawasaki's priority. Having the riders in the ISDE would be nice but it is not the focus of their racing efforts.

KTM isn't buying anyone off. They were asked if they would be willing to assist in covering the costs of relocating the event.

Kurt Caselli doesn't organize the ISDE team he rides for it. His father Rich Caselli organizes the team effort.

Sean explained why he didn't contact Barton, he had no details or options to discuss at that time.

Finally why should Sean think beyond his series? Do you really think the AMA has his best interest at heart? Hell no, if they did why would they sanction races (National HS, H&H and GP's) over the top of the WORCS events and after Sean announces his event dates?

Sean was notified in December that there was a conflict and recognized there could be an issue.

Contacting the track's owner could engage in profitable conversation which possibly could result in a solution.

KTM's putting up $2500 of their own money, so it isn't like you stated that all of the bike manufacturers aren't trying to do something about it.

I think it stinks. Sounds to me like Sean had well advanced notice and isn't really interested in helping out a great cause. What's comical is your other thread blowing smoke about how great the team will be, and all because of the WORCS riders. Ironic that WORC's itself is killing the effort.

I stand behind my original post about the team although I think it is more ironic than comical the way it turned out. The 08 team ISDE would have been tough.

So what if Sean was notified in December? So you are saying because there could have been a conflict Sean should have changed the event from the same weekend the WORCS has held it for the past 5 years on the chance that the team would be mostly WORCS riders? Caselli was a lock to be on it but not the other guys. Really maybe the AMA should have reschedule Steel City too? There was a potential conflict there because Broc Hepler has said he wants to race off road and he could have been a member of the ISDE team....

John here's a trivia question for you: Who was the major sponsor of the 06 Junior team that won the ISDE in New Zealand?

Answer: Sean Reddish

Broc Hepler a member of the ISDE team? You're an idiot.

Reddish scheduling a WORCS race on the ISDE dates would be like the AMA scheduling an outdoor national the same weekend as the MXdN. Only difference is that Reddish actually did it.

Hepler has stated he wants to race off road. You're a moron.

You've got your analogy wrong, it is exactly like the FIM scheduling the MXdN on the same weekend as Steel City.

Yeah, I am saying that Sean should've done more. That's the whole point of my post. It sounds like he didn't do enough, he put WORCS ahead of ISDE, which is a combination of multiple series champs going international to kick some butt, and I think it stinks.

You're right JT, he put his business ahead of the FIM's business. Why shouldn't the FIM reschedule? Caselli is the defending E3 champion and the American Team has prior commitments. Doesn't the FIM want their event to have the best of the best and the riders from the largest market for Off Road bikes in the world represented.... No they won't because they don't care and because they put their business ahead of the WORCS.

Hepler to the ISDE? He's done what...three GNCC's before because he likes to do them for fun occasionally. Now your construing that into him possibly riding the ISDE for Team USA?

Like I said, you're an idiot.

And again, the FIM announced the date LONG before the WORCS schedule came out. Just like now, I can tell you the EXACT date of the 2009 ISDE (October 5-10, 2009). Can you tell me the entire 2009 WORCS schedule? No. It's not known until late in the year....MONTHS AND MONTHS after the ISDE dates are announced.

To think that the FIM should reschedule the ENTIRE ISDE because a regional series in the USA was dumb enough to schedule an event that same day just shows what a dumbass you truly are.

No the fact that I try and explain the situation, and thought you might understand it, shows what a dumbass I am.

In the past WORCS allowed a throwout race. This could have easily been remedied if they added a throwout. I sincerely hope that the racers/factories decide to do the ISDE. Its like missing the Olympics (representing our country) for a regional race.

The throw out option has been offered and rejected by the teams.

x 2. I would do the ISDE any day. Surely it is more prestigious (well....everywhere else in the world than the US perhaps).

On the Hepler thing....I think it would be great if he rode the ISDE. I remember Smets at the Aussie ISDE in 98....may have been his first Enduro ever. He even wore an 'L' plate (learner drivers in Australia have to display an L plate on their cars/bikes until they get a full license) for the first few days as a joke.

It was off by the third day....when he was winning his class!

Strong team. Everyone of those guys is capable of hauling ass.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think they're going to be battling for the overall team win and probably not even for a podium spot. Racing in the US does not prepare riders for ISDE competition. Totally different styles of racing.

Hoping to see Caselli kick ass again, but it will be tougher this year than last year. He always seems to rise to the occasion at the ISDE, however, so we'll see. Starts in what...a little over a week?
