Exactly.

Weston looks like he should be driving a Dodge diesel. Chad looks like he should be driving an Acura.

Also to agree with Nornev. The salary for Weston will be soooo much less than Chad.

Well if I'm Hugh Hefner, I'd bang young hot chicks for the rest of my life and not worry about what the team managers in Moto are doing.

I'd consider buying a Dodge truck with Weston marketing them before I would Chad Reed. Lets be honest thou how many you think Chad Reeds gonna sell? You have to look on ROI and considering WP asking price would probably be roughly an eighth of what you're gonna pay Chad you can't say Reed would be a better investment. I think Reed still has a couple years left but he's not producing at the moment and is a very high maintenance rider. On the other hand Weston's producing with potential thats just begun to be scratched, is a low maintenance rider and would likely excell more with factory equipment. If Reed lands at RCH it will be because Shift and Monster kicked in the $$ & want him on the team. Since they're rolling with two rigs I'd love to see them hire Weston and Mookie while keeping BT/Hill(sx). Budget team with big results.

I just have a hard time wrapping my brain around the thought that 2013 Honda is that bad.... maybe it's the deal that makes it worse?

Weston is a good rider, but he will still be fighting through Reed's autograph line to get to the toilet.

And now, ga_pike has Weston selling trucks. Hopefully Weston will find a good ride, and it won't come to that. Wink

A few years back it was Kyle Regal, right?

Think about how much closer the red riders were to the Ryan's in 11 and 12....Did the Ryan's improve their game that much in one season or are the others being held back by a new bike that wasn't fully developed....
It also seems strange that all the riders in the GP's on red are all having sub-par seasons
I'm not saying that's the case but we will find out soon.....

I would have to think that Chad has ridden a KTM plenty....as he has one at his practice track everyday with the #26 on it.....

to be fair DonM there are quite a few riders in the GP's doing well on this years Honda.

DP19 is having a great comeback year, Tonkov also - (ok he is on 250)

factory 450 riders struggled early on but that has been personal injury and illness hasn't it.

Bobby is storming back to the top and if Nagl could keep things on track he would be bang in there

I agree with you. Along that same line of thinking, Dungey was closer to RV before he switched. As good as that KTM is...it ain't no Zuk.

It seems to me like older riders really struggle to adapt to different bikes. They are so set in their ways that if a particular bike is just slightly off from what they want it is unrideable.

So Chad wants to ride what the top two guys are riding? Kinda sounds like every amateur racer ever. He'll probably throw a bunch of Monster stickers all over his shit, too.

I dont think the KTM is holding Dungey back as bad as some here do. But I do hear he has been chasing the right setup the entire outdoor season and that comes from a reliable source. Very relaible...

But on the suzuki, wasn't RD a lot closer to RV? This year, RD hasn't had hardly anything for RV. The biggest change is the bike.

What will be said if DM18 flounders on the KTM? Does blame go to the surgery or the bike?

I'm not saying the KTM is garbage at all, but that Suzuki has proven itself with quite a few different riders.

Personally I hope Team Two Two keeps on trucking and he doesn't sign with somone else. Crossing my fingers that by switching manufactures he's able to pick up a second rider if his team stays.

Dungey is doing just fine on the KTM, he is still beating everyone else. RV is just on another level, his bike is absolute perfection; never see it not fine tuned.

Trying to blame the bike is a bit ridiculous, that KTM is probably the most tricked bike on the track. They just don't have the settings for that high of speeds, last year he cruised to the wins & it cost him. He should have rung that things neck last year, and he might have repeated this year.

It's ridiculous to blame the bike? Really?

What would you consider was the bigger change since RD and RV battled last, RV's Kawasaki or RD switching from a championship winning Suzuki to a brand new, unproven KTM?

Yeah, what a ridiculous thought.

Ridge, No disrespect as you deserve nothing but. However, I agree to disagree. I think that RV has just gotten that much faster since coming back from injury last year. I KNOW Dunge is not completely comfortable on the KTM, but I also KNOW that he was not happy with the Suzuki in 2011 either. In fact he was very unhappy there in 2011 but it was more than just issues with the bike. Put it this way we are very lucky that RD5 did not have the same thing happen to him that Brett did. Going from RD the man to Mike Webb is like going from a Rolls Royce to a Kia!

JS and RD have both commented that the pace is alot quicker than it was last year. Hard to believe it but RV is still improving.

So nobody thinks this may be related to the recent news of Lake Elsinore foreclosing and GLEN HELEN coming back for 2014? Thats what I think they may be eluding to OR Pourcel or Reed......but that isnt a usual testing day at GH so I thought maybe it has to do with bringing the national back? Could be 1 or all of the 3

Seems like dunge was more pissed at the team and not the bike, i think ridge has a valid point. I am no where near their speed but when i switched to the kx250f with SFF suspension i dumped tons of money (springs valving changes ect) into that thing trying to get the front end to feel stable (was very twicthy headshake would knife), was either was to stiff or just to soft could never find that balance point. Sold the bike due to being "over" crashing or not feeling confident in my bike (not saying i dont crash but over half my stupid crashes were what i felt like due to an unpredictable front end so i could only imagine what a pro notices about a bike). switch back to conventional forks stock valving (only resprung for my weight) and instantly noticed how much better the bike felt.

Hey thanks man!

It sounds like you get some good info...I'm surprised Rob (RG3) hasn't figured the problem out. He's one of the sharpest guys I know.

I'm a Dungey fan (and a Suzuki fan) so I'm a little butthurt that he wasn't closer to RV.

You are both right: It's getting Faster out there and the Bike REALLY does matter to certain folks...for Better or Worse.

Example: Andrew Short

Soooo many of us that have watched him do so awfully damn well on the Honda...well...we were holding our breath as he went BACK to the KTM. Guess what, the Joke is on US and he's made that bike his own. It may even be possible that the KTM is better for him -Especially Out-Doors-...Also...he seems to be doing things "His Way" over at BTO...Yup. He looks like he's getting whatever they feel he needs to go after the Podium. Nice. And this is a guy that many DON'T call a "Technical Rider"...

Oh, and, do you want to discuss Chassis Set-Up on '10-'13 Yamahas? Hmmmmm? Plenty of people will tell you "That MATTERED". BTW, seems to me that once you moved/located the motor ala DRD...Bam! That puppy Tracked and TURNED.

The Honda? I've heard terms like "There's a Hinge in the Middle of that thing"...etc. Maybe Yamaha wasn't alone. Oh, and, let's NOT compare motors...'cause...the Yamaha is gonna win that argument.

KTM? I've recently heard someone that had been riding one of the "best feeling" bikes in '13 say the following about the '14 KTM-FE, "You know, it's really Surprising how FAST I could get comfortable on it."

In the end: You're asking these guys to go hang it out on a bike that they REALLY need to have Confidence in. That's EXACTLY where Ridge is coming from. I just watched him get a Medal on an '08.5 RM-Z simply because he felt right at home.

And another thing: I've got a shop full of Hondas and Kawis...&...I'll still tell ya: The Suzuki still has a lot of RM250 in it. Just take out and rail a turn...you'll see.

Teamgreen. I get where you are coming from. I am in no way saying the Suzuki is a bad bike because I to think that it is one of the best. I just dont think the switch to KTM is the reason why RV is beating RD so bad this year. The KTM is an amazing machine compared to what it once was. And outdoors I think its every bit as capable as the Kawi. That said. Villopoto has been on a Kawi since??? RD has been on 3 or 4 different brands since RV has been on green. There has to be some correlation to the fact that RV has not yet had to change brands since he got off of Yamaha 80's!
