He is only going to have so many chances and the U.S. needs him there. Best racer in the world-ESPECIALLY when it counts.

RV, if there is any way possible, do the surgery after the MXdN or after the Monster Energy Cup.

As a fan, i say yes but to be ready for 2014 sx and a chance of way more $$ I can see the big picture.

anyone that has had plates and screws fitted that has given them bother fully understands the want to get them removed at the first possible opportunity

Team USA would of course be better off with RV on the team, but they don't need him to still be the odds on favourite. Plenty of other top tier riders capable of taking his place and almost every other team has at least one serious flaw in its selection. It's disappointing for sure to miss out on yet another RV vs AC battle though.

I wish and hope he would do the MXoN's race.....but from a business stand point....there is no money in MXoN's to race it and if it shortens his recovery time before the SX season starts......probably not a good thing. Not sure what his surgery requires , but if it's ankle it could be a long and drawn out recovery process. Sure would dig seeing him fight for the USA though.

Agreed, Villopoto needs to do whatever is best for him whether anyone else likes it or not.

it would be great if he goes, but you can tell by his results and work ethic he is all business at this point, and there is nothing wrong with that.

All about the $$$ and the bigger picture,they don't need him anyway

It'd be good to see him against Cairoli though,I think his dip in form is mainly because he doesn't like that Loket track

He may have jacked up that leg in a crash this year... that one at A1 he was limping right away. I would think he would do it if he thought he could.

A big factor in this is that the US nationals end 2 weeks earlier this year.

Last year Elsinore was 9/8 and the MXDN ran on 9/30.
This year Elsinore is 8/24 and the MXDN is on 9/29.

I am sure that he will Immediately change his plans now. He needs to realize that he's endangering our ability to brag to the Europeans on Vital. It's so selfish of him.

cmon guys...
if mxon was the week after elsinore he would be racing, but waiting one month to race it and then having surgery and recovery time is stupid.
I wonder who's gonna fill in, Barcia I guess. although I'd love to see Eli on a 450 but I guess its not gonna happen since you just have too many fast 450 dudes :D
