riding in chi-town?

May be relocating from Ohio to Elk Grove Village, Illinois area. Any motocross tracks close by? From what I have been able to find, most are 1-2 hours away minimum.

I work in Elk Grove Village. There are a few tracks but non close by. Byron is about 1-1/2 hours away. An OK track. Walnut is close to 3 hours. I love the place. Joliet has a track that's supposed to be nice. Mount Carrol is about 3 hours but I'm not a big fan. Allot of blind jumps that make me uncomfortable

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like Ive been spoiled here in northern Ohio; we have probably 20 tracks within 2 hours.

he pretty much covered it but will add there is an indoor track in Waterman (45 m to 1 h.)

For long distance you have Aztlan (something like that) in Janesville WI, Buffalo grove in Ottawa, then there are a few in indiana you could hit up.

I am relocating to Gurnee (20 miles N of Chicago) at the end of the month... So Far i have only heard of a couple spots....
Anyone have info on Sunset?

Saw an arial shot of waterman, they seem to have a couple of outdoor tracks,
has anyone out there riden it.
I might be moving to Naperville soon and am looking for somthing close by.
I grew up in Rockford and use to ride Byron but that was thirty years ago.

Sunset Ridge?

Worth the drive for sure. The track is as safe as can be, with decent dirt changes. Last I was there was a few years ago, but they had sandy dirt that always whooped up on this huge downhill straight, good dirt everywhere else, and a lot of fun. mostly tabletops, with a couple other jumps thrown in. It was ran very well too - the running it did a good job.

Byron is fun (but rough)

close to chicago there really isn't much. Sucks for sure, but it is what it is.

I think a lot of us in the Chicago area should just get together and split the cost of riding to a place on practice days... would make it much more economical, and we'd all get to have fun.

I have not heard anything about waterman added outdoor tracks, they are kinda land locked. I believe it is an old pickle factory.

KTMboy hit the nail on the head, great track, great people. I really do not MX any more but I will ride there, very safe. You can rent it for $400 a day fully groomed. Not bad if you can get 10-20 guys.

I spend most of my time at Buffalo Range when I ride. It has two tracks, one is VERY hard pack and gets dusty, the second is a sand track that is very fun. But I mainly go for the woods because I only race scrambles.

I would love to do a group ride but I have been off the bike while I am looking for a job. ( no insurance )

I raced at Sunset Ridge for the first time yesterday, and it is by far the best track around, on par with red bud. I'll be going back for every race they have next year.
