Coming up with a conclusion after opening statements seems a little bit premature to me.
Even if he touched it (which I doubt) or not.
Not everything someone touches would have their DNA on it.
I highly doubt he touched the gun though - that was concealed.
He could have went for the general area and brushed up against it in a scuffle.
That is what the girl said when asked by West in regards to the transfer of DNA.
They also claim the rain could have messed up evidence also and moving the body around.
What the defense is trying to do is show reasonable doubt to all their circumstantial & scientific evidence
at the scene.
Example: If there is question/reasonable doubt - they cant convict just based off that by the Judges instructions.
In this phase of the trial most of the evidence should weight into the States favor as it always does.
They will bring out all in regards to the case they feel they have against him.
The defense has to to show question/reasonable doubt during the cross examination of the evidence/witnesses.
Once the State closes then we will hear Zimmermans side of the story which will weigh in the Defenses favor as it always does.Then the State will have to counter that during cross examination.
Both sides will partake in closing arguments saying why they feel they proved this or that....ect.
Or why one side didn't prove this or that.
Then the jury will decide on a verdict.
Probably another 2 to 3 weeks left with this.
