I'm curious...how in the hell do you get financing on a nine year old CR 250?

I financed a 2004 thru my bank and that was private party. I paid it off within 6 months, but still.

Wow...I didn't think anyone would finance something like that. Then again, if you paid it off in six months, you aren't a bad credit risk. Others are. Cool that you were able to do that. I've never financed bikes before, if you get more bikes (with a 20-30 % down payment); is it easier or harder to do? I got two kids and I'd like to get us all on new(er) bikes. Not now, but a little further down the road. Any advice???

I've financed three dirtbikes thru my credit union. One was an '06 purchased late '08, I believe. The other was a new '09 from a dealer purchased in 2009. And my most recent purchase was a 2004 that I got in Sept 2012. I have good credit, always made a down payment of at least 10%.

I didn't know just how many people, including fast pros, that finance new bikes then sell/trade them in at the end of the year and repeat that process. Selling the bike when I didn't own it always made it a little harder because most people buying dirtbikes are just paying cash, but it's always allowed me to have a nice bike in the garage so I'm happy with it. I'm 22 years old with a killer credit score, and it's somewhat "established" too, so it's been good.
