Is he done with the 250 class? Will he run a 450 in SX next year? Who is his gear sponsor?

I ask because he was running top five at Anaheim at one point in the race. I remember he had some great rides...

MSR gear here. I think Pro Grip at Giriboldi. He'll stay on 250 for SX I would think.

While I can only dream of having the talent and speed of young Mr Lieb I am glad I don't have his poor judgment. While Beursfoon is a long standing team they have never been front runners at GP level and Lieb has been around the paddock long enough to work out which are the top teams teams that can provide front running bikes.
beursfoon is a good team ....

Topteam in Holland with podiums in the national championship.
Last year, Kras finished third in the european 250cc championship on a beursfoon suzuki.

they are doing gp's for a few years now with guys like Butron, de Reuver, Kras, Strijbos, Eggens, Larsen ...

do you think Gariboldi is a topteam????????
How many championships did they win?

Thanks for the kind words and advice. No doubt it's a bad situation for Beursfoon and Michael. Both sides have their story, I if course I am on my son's side. Hopefully it all goes away and they both can back to racing. For the record there was supposed to be a joint press release that Michael and Beursfoon agreed on to minimize the damage. Beursfoon fired the pr with the insults and lies. Very unprofessional IMHO. For some of you armchair team managers Michael had a DNF today and did not crash. He is also riding a bike with Suspension set up for a heavier rider with a diff shock spring. If it works out he'll get some testing in with Technical Touch and will get more familiar with his bike. He is pumped with the team and likes the bike. The motor was not his as someone else stated and Kongals...... I don't know what to say to you except give the kid some time. You know full well when he is healthy he'll be on pace.
so he's now in a professional good team and they can't change the suspension set up or put a suspension on the bike he likes??

why did he do only 4-5 laps in the free practice yesterday and the warm up this morning?

nothing wrong with gariboldi .... but they are, just like beursfoon,, one of the smaller teams .... and, just like beursfoon, they didn't win gp's ....

I'm also interested in why Leib isnt participating today.

I'd like to ad that whoever does PR for Beursfoon deserved to get fired. Look at the shitstorm that has come over them now. No matter what the outcome is, Beursfoon's reputation is surely damaged by this whole incident and the way the first PR message has been brought out.

Leib is just an individual. Even if he is to blame for this in any way, you cant blame him for defending himself and wanting another ride. Sure he might have done things in a non-fashionable way, but again, he's just a individual who has dreams he pursues. Beursfoon on the other hand.. a professional group of people, this does not make you look good.

A statement like "Unfortunately we have ended our agreement/contract with Leib as of today, due to problems between Leib&the team" would have sufficed.

They were absolutely pissed and outraged by his actions. Shit like that doesn`t happen very often.

As for suspension testing there was no time. Michael had a test ride with the team on Weds. He rode the bike for 20 minutes, met the team and had some meetings. He did not ride the race bike again till Sat morning free practice. Technical Touch who services all factory teams running KYB was there and 100% willing to do anything they could. They felt that the set ip for Kullas was a good start with the proper spring rates so that's where they started. As for not riding today Michael took a digger in warm up. He landed on his shoulder. He said he could of ridden but between getting things set up properly and now a sore shoulder he opted to sit out. Better to do some testing and show up with the proper set up. The tracks at the GP's do not get groomed from Sat, for the most part, and Michael and the team agreed that it would be better to sit out.

I just want to make something clear because some people seem to be struggling, the team name is spelled "Gariboldi", not giriboldi or giraboldi or garibaldi. The fact that Leib spelled the team name wrong multiple times in his essay that GuyB posted just makes me laugh because it really makes him look like an idiot when he can't even spell the name of the team that he might potentially be spending the rest of the series with.

Ooops! My sincere apology. Spelling has never been one of my stronger points. FYI our last name is Leib not Lieb........ it's misspelled all the time....... really does not bother me. You can be assured that I will get it right from now on....... Gariboldi, Gariboldi, Gariboldi

Kongols, I advised you to stop long ago but you keep going. Your pathetic Euro ass is embarrassing to other people from there, especially Latvia. Face it, you hate anyone, anything that is superior because they or it is American. Maybe you could give the kid some words of encouragement instead. Stop whining like a little bitch.

Why isn't he racing at home? If the kid wanted to race why not fuckin race our nationals. Don said even if he got paid it wasn't much, so why bother going over there in first place. They have race motors, go out and do half the schedule(west coast nationals) grass roots style and prove yourself. The kid has talent but all the drama and bullshit is to much, holy hell put the kid on a decent bike DL and go fuckin race, just my opinion
Maybe 'wasn't much' was still more than he could earn at home...
MAYBE he wants to be world champion. I love Davey Coombs and really...no matter what series is better... or worse...fuckin world champion has a nice ring to it. If I was RV I would head over seas in a year or two and snatch me up a new moniker.... world fucking champ

As mentioned by several people before a story always has two sides. But first of all, Leib rode for Beursfoon last year in some local supercrosses for Beursfoon so he knew the team, the people and the bikes before coming here again.
Second of all, for a guy that can't get a team for the Nationals and no other team at the time for the GP's he should be very thankfull he got a chance at Beursfoon.
Now after only a few weeks he's telling us that everything about this is bad. But believe me they did their best to get the best possible for Leib. Saying the bike is crap, is absolute bullshit. A non GP-rider (Kras) qualfying 2nd on that same bike in a Dutch race in front of several top 10 GP-riders says enough. They hired the best suspension guy in Holland to join Michael and his mechanic here for a few days to get the best set-up he wanted. When this was done, Leib started complaining about the engine and eventually demanding Beursfoon should buy 4 (!) race engines from his friend or dad (I don't know exactly) for about $10.000 each. Then Beursfoon found out that Leib was already talking to others teams and that was it for them. I think reasons enough to kick him out. He's acting like the big American superstar but what the heck did he ever win? Talking about a GP-winning bike... If he was on Bubba's factory 450 Suzuki in the MX2 class he wouldn't even win.

Maybe it wasn't the best idea of the team to send out this press release but I can only imaging how pissed they were after trying so hard and putting al this money and time in it.
But Michaels reply on Facebook is full of bulshit too. Talking about teamowner John being in Italy trying to stop him from racing and talking bad things about him while the was never in Italy... The guy was in Holland 800 miles away from Maggiora

After all, I think everybody laughed his ass off over here after al this drama and seeing Leib's performance in qualfying. Constantly around 15th time and eventually not even starting in the race saying he injured his shoulder.
I have the feeling that in a few weeks from now Gariboldi is a crap team as well.... Good luck Michael Leib, you will need it.

BAM!

Indeed it's crazy to see how M. Leib is acting! I mean he's acting like he's the big American Champion who needs a GP winning bike to rebuild he career. The only part that's true is that he's American and that he needs a bike to ride because he needs to rebuild his career.

Leib acts like a douch now and only because of 1 GP Podium and a couple of meaningless loretta titles!

It's a shame, It's simply a matter of me standing up for what we discussed earlier in the year. Their bike is not competitive – they did not take the steps necessary to make it competitive. The level of performance that I'll be racing against is very high and Buersfoon Rockstar Suzuki knew full well that the only reason I agreed to race their bike was if it was really good.

Do I need to say more?! And asking for special prept bikes? C'mon.

That's out of context without the press release from the team, put them both together and they both look bad.

And people wonder why more Americans don't join the go series.... They will all be welcomed home and we look forward to more riders leaving that series to join the AMA nationals.
