came up short on the big tabletop at blue diamond yesterday, blew through the travel on the forks and the shock, felt a little click in my back. Now my back hurts like hell this morning, and I can barely stand up for 2 minutes without loosing my balance. When I curl up in the fetal position, ALL the pain goes away, sitting isn't too bad as long as I recline back, and keep pressure off the spine. Anyone have any ideas what to do? I don't think this is bad enough for a hospital visit, this is about a 5 out of 10 on the pain threshold.
You could have a compression fracture or even disc damage.
Don't mess around with back injury, it is forever.

I've been using a local chiropractor since 1977 and thing have worked well. However, in '78 I shortened two vertebra and now I have spurs and short discs in my back. Today, things aren't the same as it has been for 30 years, and the chiropractor's treatments don't fix me any more.
This could have all been avoided if I would have bought that dam suspension earlier this year! Good thing I didn't try that triple step down.
Sounds to me like a compressed disc, or maybe just some microtrauma to a disc or discs resulting in pain.
It scares me
I'd definitely hit the doctor for something like that, it's probably worth at least a couple x-rays, even if the ER would be a waste of time.
I cranked my back trying to clear the tabletop out of the corner by the starting gate. 3rd gear, in the meat on a 450.
scottie, please no re-post. i almost cried when you posted your story on here a while back. i consider myself, very lucky!
Dentist = teeth specialist.
Chiroprator = back specialist.
Since you didn't hurt your eyes or teeth, go see a good chiropractor.
I was watching ty wozney sailing that step down, you done that jump yet?
www.relaxtheback.com has inversion tables for sale as does www.yukon-fitness.com
Inversion tables are something every off road rider should have in the house or garage to use on a daily basis particularly after spending time on the bike.
Pillow under the stomach and ice was an excellent suggestion by NetMXer
If you see an orthopedic surgeon be prepared to have surgery recommended...they're like carpenters in the sense they have a hammer and everything is a nail. Take your time and don't be rushed into doing anything. Traction therapy kept me from having my herniated L5 removed surgically.
Good luck!

Anyways definitely put ice on it all day. It could be serious but you can't tell without an MRI. If you have any loss of bowel or urinary control get to the ER ASAP!
those inversion tables look interesting, maybe a possible dual usage!
I haven't done that one yet, haven't actually seen anyone do it. I usually take the cheater line to the inside instead of going out way wide and squaring it up like you'd probably have too. I have thought about it a few times though. I'll probably give her a shot next time im down there.
But, if it's definitely a good to know based on pictures from the doc.
if someone REALLY had a set of brass balls, they could get a 450 up and over the double step up. The face is pretty big now, and you'd get plenty of lift. you'd have to hit it clean though, if you bounced off the top of the second step, it would be a 20ft drop to flat bottom. ouch.
Unfortunately this is probably something you are going to have to live with for a while so try and take care of yourself. I herniated my disk nearly a year ago and I'm apparently sentenced to live with pain down my leg from here on out. I've tried pretty much everything sans surgery with limited gains. Even with surgery most people still live with discomfort.
Best of luck....
