If we are concerned about the Joe Blows of the world understanding our two moto format wouldn't the easiest most logical thing to do is implement Olympic scoring like they use at 99.9 percent of MX tracks in the US? This would be beyond easy to implement and would help the guys in the booth, people at the race and at home to very easily calculate overall positions.

Lets say RV went 1-8 at hang town he would get 38 championship points and 9 "Olympic style points"
And Barcia went 4-4 an collected 36 championship points with 8 "Olympic style points" (obviously the lower score the better with the Olympic system)

Now try and explain to Joe Blow that after the first round in which Barcia beat RV, RV is now higher on the championship table!

I read the same complaints all the time over at MXA, if my memory serves me right they put something on their website complaining about the point system a while ago.

Those guys are the grumpy old ment that walked to and from school uphill both ways, in the snow with no shoes!

The magazine is a joke, they are he most bias media in the sport, they are so in bed with the Glen Helen guys it's rediculous!
They always used to praise the nationals and slam the GPs organizers.
When Glen Helen lost the national, and picked up the GP, Jody started slamming MX sports but started hailing Luango's organization and basically calling him a visionary.
The second Glen Helen lost the GP, MXA went straight back to slamming the GPs organizers.

MX Sports could cure cancer and MXA would say they did it wrong, the pill has side plates that are too small and doesn't have grab handles.

Sorry to turn this into a MXA rant, Rock I know you are buddies with those guys. But they need to realise there is a whole different MX world beyond the Glen Helen fence line!
your post would be relevant if you understood what was being said here. Olympic scoring not points, go read it all over again then post something that has relevance. Olympic scoring, lowest amount of points wins as in moto1 = 1st moto2 = 2nd and so on, if tie 2nd moto breaks the tie as in 1-3, 3-1 or 2-2 the 3-1 would win and 2-2 would be 2nd. this is how they did since day one of motocross. points are usually given for overall in Olympic scoring not per moto like the ama does. 1st = 25 2nd = 23 3rd = 21 and so on.

And the overall winner earns the most points, no ties. With the current system you can win the overall but 2nd can score the same amount of points. Lame (imo) First should earn more points than 2nd always, theres no ties in motocross, wtf Ama ?

I completely understand what was being said, hence why i said "as long as they pay points per moto they won't"
Wether they should pay points on overalls or motos is a different topic
The original debate was the current system is too hard to understand, Rock never once said they should pay points based on overalls.

No big deal, I just think the current system is fine.
