British Maicos??

Edited Date/Time 5/31/2013 7:40pm
I've been hearing as well as seeing a lot of web info about the once German brand Maico being brought back out on the market by a British company called Maico International? Many, many years ago when I was way too young & small I owned a 1981 Maico-490 mega 2 but sold it to buy a ride that was more my size. Anyhow I mainly just wanted to ask anyone here on Vital if they know or have any info on these new Maico's & if they are really bringing out some new big bore 2-strokes?

Maico International, run by Wulfsport's Bill Brown in Workington Cumbria, England bought up most of the spares when Maico's german factory went bust.
They now offer complete bikes using re-conditioned engines with new frames, shocks, wheels, tanks plastic etc.
Google Wulfsport's website, there should be a link to the Maico side of their business.

Their website is under development hence I linked to their Facebook page, plenty of pics on there of the new bikes.

or anywhere. this has been a tease for years. Rich Winkler was supposed to be the US importer. I spoke to him about ordering one a few years ago and he said he was going thru all the govt paperwork to import. never happened.

btw, not implying the problem was on Rich's end. The bikes were never produced in any numbers, just a few prototypes.

You're right about that yota.Only a few prototypes were made & it's been a long hard tease! I really wanted to buy one back in 2011 when Maico International was bragging them up so much but NOT showing any in the U.S. Just worthless pics on their website!? :-(
