So I've decided against a new bike for this year, and am going to drop some cash into my trusty '11 for this season. New tires, drive kit, grips, and graphics to freshen everything up. I've got a new top end kit and clutch plates in the garage, but the bike doesn't need those yet. The only upgrade I'm planning on is possibly a Rekluse clutch. I don't know if I want to go with the Core Full kit or the $400 EXP without cover and plates. Anyone have experience with those on a KX450F? Any reason performance wise to go with the full kit? Anyone know of a better deal than $400 on the EXP? Thanks for the help.

I have the EXP 2.0 in my 450 f Honda and love it.
Put it in, adjust it and forget it!

Yes the reason I would go with the full Core EXP unit in your KX450F is that it will not change the tension at the lever one bit & its fully manual when you want it to be just like your stock clutch. I rode a friends 12 KX450F in Florida with just the EXP unit in it & while I did like it I didn't like how hard his lever pull was & that would definitely be a deal breaker for me when considering which of the 2 Rekluse units to buy. It felt like it pulled twice as hard as the stock KXF's unit. Once you have a Core EXP set up & broken in you could let some ride your bike & they would never know you had it in there if you didn't tell them. It's that good.

With the EXP 2.0 the clutch lever is never used!

Thanks for the input. Might try and find a used Core EXP for a bit, otherwise I think I'll bite the bullet and get the Core new.

Yes the noticeable difference is the clutch pull, but when you get used to riding with one you quit reaching for the lever.

I happen to have an EXP for your bike, it has less than 1 hour on it. I liked it but found a Honda "I just had to have". Anyway pulled it out of the Kawi before I sold it. Glad you reminded me I have it. I'll ship it to you for $225. If your in Western NC you'll welcome to come pick it up.
