Hey guys FNG around here so first off hello, glad to be apart of the fam... Alright to the topic... I was at the track last weekend riding pretty hard I live in Cali and it was pretty hot that day, but my bike started making a loud ticking sound the progressively got louder, I decided to take one more lap I was riding good why not when I came off a table into a straight sweeper I was on it really hard when the motor bogged really hard and never left that stat it sounded like it was under water... So I pulled off walked it back and it's been a few days now having trouble with some answers or direction to start but the piston moves freely and there is still compression in the top end but the bike will not run or start... Oh and it had just started to back fire pretty severely the day before I went to the track... The bike is more then well maintained after every ride, so I'm just not sure where to start...

Fuel, Spark, and Air make these bikes run. Start with the jets. Make sure the pilot and main jets are clean. If that doesn't start it check spark and air intake. Still no luck, move on to checking valve clearance and timing.

Run 'em 'till they quit, regardless of any abnormal engine noises.

Backfiring, then loud tick, and now, no run ? I would look into the cam chain guides , tensioner, and chain itself. Probably has jumped time.

As above but also check your valve gap and get a manual if you don't have one. The intake valves wear quicker. Next time you hear a ticking sound kill it on the spot, the new race 4t motors are very mean to your pocket book hopefully you got lucky. Remember one thing at a time, timing, valves.carb or is it Fi?

Finally got it back from my mechanic at Four Stroke Works... I shot an intake valve into the cylinder head pretty much the points you guys had... Anyway he hooked me up with a PC head w bronze valve seats and did it all up fresh and scorned me pretty good, he sayed it wouldn't last past mammoth, it did and but then it went catastrophic next time anything happens it's straight off to the mechanic...
