We used to bend them back all the time. Carbon steel bars would re-bend back to their bent condition after awhile but chromoly bars would usually be stable. Some of us poor folk couldn't just throw money and parts at a problem, we actually had to fix it using tools, a totally unfamiliar concept in todays world. FWIW I'd avoid bending back aluminum bars,they usually don't have many bend cycles in them before they will start to crack

Before the present where too many guys just throw things away. He is talking about just using them as a back up set, or does he need NEW bars for that? Incredible!!!!!

The handlebar would be alot weaker once bent back . The last thing you want is bars snapping!!!! trust me ive seen it .

I know two different people that ended up in the hospital because their bars snapped off mid ride. I don't run old bars, or bent bars, for that reason. Only a fool would straighten bent aluminum bars, and re-use them. Aluminum becomes very brittle when it's cold bent. If you crash and bend your aluminum bars, they belong in the trash can.

Trash can not cool. Recycle those alum. bars along with all bent up and broken alum. parts.
