and it may be a dumb question, but whats with the numbers on you guy's vest at the races?

I noticed you were wearing #67 this past weekend. Is that # assigned to you for the whole SX series? Do you just grab any vest that fits?

I know, I know, its probably a stupid inquiry, but I have been wondering for a while..............Cool

I might be wrong, but I think photographers are assigned vests with numbers to wear when they're on the track floor. Probably to help keep track of the actual photographers out there.

I thought maybe its a numbering system, like you know, how they number riders, in terms of how good they are?

Like, obviously RV is the best there is, Reed is 22nd best, Alessi is....well, you know.

So that would make Gibby the 67th best photog out there? Tongue

It's for when they line up all the photographers after the race and make them run laps around the track. The team owners and managers bet on who the fastest photog is, kind of like horse racing. Nothing like a day at the photog races

A handful of us that cover all the races use the same vest throughout. The rest pick one up in the morning, and return it after the podium shots.

Mostly the number is on there so that when the eyes in the sky think we're getting too close to the track, or are in an unsafe spot, they can call down to the floor and have us reeled in.

Hmm...I've always said that running is for people who don't know how to ride bikes, and I probably wouldn't win on that one, but I certainly don't think I'd get last. But walking around a real Supercross track is tough. Running? That'd be really rough on the knees. Anyway, it's safe to say you shouldn't bet on me. Smile

As far as being the 67th best at shooting Supercross or motocross? I'd say definitely in the top 4000 or so. Wink
