He is still not easy to pass by any means but lately he doesn't give me that feeling of riding dirty. Like others have said it feels like he is trying to move forward. I think the diference is he gained some speed. Good for him
More to the point his positions are better, it seems a bit much to nail someone back in the pack, but when he's fighting for top 5's, get at it.

I'm surprised that more people don't handle Freise like Wharton did last night. Wharton pass was just like a "Get the fk out the way, here's for riding so defensive!!!".

It's kind of annoying watching the other riders not able to pass the guy after they catch him. It's like watching the kids at school not want to fk with the big bad bully. They need to just handle the guy like K-dub did in vegas. Everyones got problems with the guy so why isn't everyone handling the problem.

I wish more riders would ride like Vince is doing right now. Trying to move forward and when someone wants to pass you, you fight back! Had enough of people moving over too easily these last couple years. Riders fighting for their position makes the racing much better.

Vince, you are doing great this year. Keep it up!

Like Trauma said, fight back when you are a front runner is OK. Being a great starter and then messing with championship contenders wile being a lapper is not. Thats what makes the difference this year in my eyes I think.

When he starts pulling his freeze block/takeout/jack with/bumper car moves his lap times drop quite a bit also.
I've watched him for some time now (years). If he worried about pushing forward and improving his lap times he would be far better off results wise. Basically ride like it is practice and forget about the other guys and work on shaving off time and pulling away from the guy on his tail, rather then jack with him and go all over the place and lose time. When he loses time it just sets him up for another position loss in laps to come.

Sorby was one who had gotten into the same bad habits and it worked against him a lot of the time results & lap time wise.

# 48 Thompson did a block pass on the last corner before the checkered flag for scoring position and Friese stayed on his line and didn't back off.
great race for position and both rode clean, too bad the TV crew didn't have a camera on the finish line.

5th is Cole Thompson's best finish for SX so far this year.
Edit; 6th overall.

I like how Friese fights back for his position. That's how every racer should be on every pass!
Just needs to tone down the ramming and taking people out.

I find your outlook horrible. If someone is faster than you, passes you, then you decide to override it for a few corners to ram them...that's not racing to me. That's all A-hole, punk BS. I don't get how you could actually like something like that. Now if someone passes you, and you put your head down, pick up some new lines, pass the guy back without riding over them...great racing.

I totally agree with you Madmax, but that does not apply to how Vince has been riding recently. He has a bad image and is trying to make up for that.

I hate to say it but I'm impressed with Friese's riding lately.

I don't like the way he rides at all. However, he's not a top guy and he isn't getting a huge paycheck, so every guy he holds off is more money in his pocket. I have to respect that. If I were on the track with him, I definitely wouldn't hesitate to put him on the ground. He's cool about it though. He can dish it out and take it. I have to respect that too.

Hello,
I thought this was a sport called Supercross. You know ridden in Stadiums, competitively, and I'm not sure when this became Nascar. Why would anyone move over for anyone? Vince Friese is racing. This is his occupation. This is what we all do! Who just lets people by? You are competing for your finish, from beginner to expert, competing to finish better. I wish every pro rode as defensively because it would be way more exciting. I think the idea that he should have to pull over for others is bull. If you are racing, then why would you not try to race? That's money, exposure, opportunities, and motivation.

I don't think there are many riders out there just pulling over for riders to get by. I think some riders are just much better at riding a wide bike.

As for Vince's riding, he does appear to be doing much better but I'm curious to see how long it lasts. At this point, I'm happy to see improvement and definitely don't expect perfection.

I didnt see it. And Ralph was too busy putting his mouth all over "Mushy" to report good racing.

Hey this is a video I made interviewing Vince at Indy. He talks about his reputation for agressive riding. Seems to apply here:
