HELP PLEASE

Okay, so first things first.

I'm clearly new to this site. As i came across it the other day i couldn't help but become addicted within minutes of reading some of these forums. Keep up the good work guys.

I have a 2002 RM 125

I have been looking into replacing my outdated TAG X5 bars which are 7/8'' obviously. As i would like to update the set up to a 1 1/8'' bar. considering i am unemployed at this point in time and i don't have the budget to buy a set a triple clamps to accommodate this big bar feature. I would like to use a set of Either PRO TAPER or TUSK Big bar Adapters in order to allow a set of Fat bars. ANYONE OUT THERE USE THESE BEFORE?

QUESTION: I have never messed with the controls. Other than putting an on the fly clutch perch on. HOW DO I LOOSEN my throttle mechanism? I am unaware of how to do this and any help would be much appreciated

ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW HOW TO HELP WRITE A STEP BY STEP PROCESS FOR REMOVING THE THROTTLE MECHANISM AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE SO I CAN MAKE THE STEP UP TO SOME FAT BARS?

IT'S a 2002 SUZUKI RM 125

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED :DDDD

Theres a rubber cover over the throttle housing, pull it back and there will be two bolts that hold the two peices of the throttle housing together. Just loosen them and slide the throttle off when you remove the bars.

Perfect, that's exactly what i was hoping for. I just haven't had a chance to poke around to much because of both my wrists being fractured at this point in time. Should be able to start doing some regular activities again within the next couple weeks.

Needless to say this is going to be the first thing i do

I appreciate the welcome! I'm glad to be here. After all, i've been in the whole dirt bike scene for some time now i've just never taken it upon myself to join a fan club or fellow dirt bike community such as this yet since i started riding.

All i have to say is it's about time. I'm sure i'll have more questions over time. I actually can think of one right now, i just don't want to become a nuisance quite yet. Hah. I'm happy to have found such a great place for opinions, and knowledgeable answers. This is a really cool site.

Your going to gain a little bar height with those adapters on there.

I have used the protaper adaptor before and never had an issue with them. Use some blue loctite on the threaded portion going into the triple clamp and you should be alright.

Like TX24 said you will gain some bar heigth just because of the adaptor so be sure to take that into account. I like my bars a little higher so that never bothered me.

Check the protaper manual that comes with the adaptors and torque them to spec.

You can imagine what the adaptors will look like in this photo. Consider the added height when choosing your bar bend. Later model bikes, or aftermarket clamps do not have the bar mounts molded into the triple clamp and you can just swap bar mounts. Unfortunately you don't have that option.

Awesome bike though, I had one of those and wish I still owned it.

And for what it's worth, I wouldn't consider 7/8in bars to be outdated. Perhaps, the X-5 bars on your bike are outdated, they even look slighty bent?, but I think a fresh set of anodized (insert your favorite color here) Renthal 7/8 bars would look pretty appropriate on that bike !

You may want to consider allocating some of your hard earned money elsewhere. Suspension bearings, top end, muffler packing, chain & sprockets etc. are all probably due for replacement.

I also run the 7/8" bars on my bike. No complaints.

If you do go with the adapters, look into a lower-bend of handlebar when you get your 1 1/8" bars. You can minimize the difference in extra height that way (if you so desire.)

I appreciate everyone's opinions guys, they all help a bunch.

Considering i'm a 6"+ at 160pounds, i'm not to worried about the extra height. If anything, i would like some more, thanks though Tx24.

Didn't mean to bash on the 7/8'' bars in any way pCp 252. You hit it right on the money, my bars are slightly bent, and they're OLD. I'm just looking to go with a fat bar because i've always wanted one, after riding around with the Ktm sx125 my dad rides, i love the way they feel. However, does this mean i will have to change any of my control clamps, or get different ones due to the bigger bar? Or do will they adapt regardless because they taper out at the ends back to a 7/8'' where it won't make a difference?

I've seen a couple pictures now, thanks again pCp 252. If i am correct, those are the rockymountainatv style. And i will be spending some of this tax returns on a new top end, chain and sprockets, and most likely a set of new shoes, and a spark arrestor.

I have already had the suspension re valved and adjusted for my height, yet i will be checking suspension bearings, and all bearings for that matter when i tear the bike down for the rebuild. I'll make sure to keep y'all updated.

Your controls will clamp onto any handlebar, as the larger diameter ones taper down to 7/8" at the bar ends. Standard grips will fit, too.

Solid, thanks Falcon. Much appreciated. I'm still teetering between wether i'll stick with the 7/8'' or try out some 1 1/8''. Time will tell once i get back to my job. Thanks guys. Ya'll information informers have really helped me out. I love this site.
