Here is another issue with the industry:

It's 2013 and the internet is on computers.

Now that it is the future, their are so many ways to advertise and promote your brand; has sponsoring teams become an expensive and inefficient way of getting brand recognised?

Are brands starting to rely on online media like facebook and google ad words to create brand awareness, which eats up marketing budget. Meaning less money of the teams.

Should or do the industry media cut a check every year and sponsor a team with a portion of their ad revenue?

Back when it was a print-only world, did Motocross Action or Cycle News ever cut a check sponsor a team? I'm not sure what the difference is now...except that online advertising is much cheaper than print ever was.

I highly doubt it.

But should they step up and take 1% of revenue and sponsor a team or rider? Since they survive off of the sport, should give back to the riders. If I was in the position to do so, I would.

My point is, since their is more media to spend money on and promote your brand. Does this take money out of the riders pockets?

Does global warming take money out of the rider's pockets? I don't know the answer to that, either.

The answer to your question is No.

Online media is a way more cost-effective way for a brand to advertise so with that said, technology should free up more money to fund race teams.

Remember, a sponsored race team is just a huge promotional effort. Nothing is stopping anyone from starting a race team except for that whole money thing. hahaha

The real reason why teams are hurting is the same reason everyone is hurting. We just went through a huge economic recession and on the verge of another.

Teams, OEM's, and every company on the planet is looking to do more with less.

Besides, instead of asking someone else to spearhead this idea, why not just grab the reigns and do it yourself. If its as easy as you make it sound, it should be a snap.
