Freestyle MX in the last couple of years has dwindled down to jus tthe big events. There is a lot more pressure to do good now as the economy and the money that was in the sport is going away.
He rode hurt all week but gave it his all in every run, even speed and style. Although I thought his pass on rebeaud was a little dirty it just goes to show you how bad he wanted to do good at X. the track offered very little room for passing (did you see lots in the racing? did't think so) and he stuck it in where he thought he could get it done. Bad decision? YES. but not becasue of lack of desire.
Last, but most importantly- Twitch is a MAJOR part of the mulisha. Did you expect anything less? Like them or hate them the Mulisha knows how to get attention and market themselves to make millions- very smart individuals. His sponsors are ok with his antics, that is what made him so popular. Matter of fact, Brian Deegan, although many of you may disagree has a good head on his shoulders and found a way to make millions when he was "washed up" as a racer.
The "Mulisha" took 5 medels from X games this year, had the biggest presence of fans in the pits and the proffesionalism of the pit area rivalved that of any factory team.
So Twitch was the talk of the town after the event, heck he got a a two pager (as of now) on here talking about him.... had he just stopped, he would have been just another 5th place finisher that no one cared about.....
But then again he knows if he acted like that he'd be bikeless.
That's what we expect from Danica Patrick, not a full grown man.
but I gaurantee you the next time Twitch is on TV your son will be watching "to see what happens"
thus- twitch is very marketable- even as "the bad guy that is going to change his daiper" lol.
good vs. evil - sometimes you just have to play the role to get ahead in life.
If you talked to twitch after the fact, he was truly bummed. it isn't what it used to be anymore. these guys ride moto 3 times a week, have trainers, work out, jump countless times into foam pits and have 1 major event a year to excel in for contract time. pressure? naaahhhhhh.
