Don't get me wrong. I love to ride, but I do love living in a place that has all 4 seasons. Here is a quick vid I made about 2 weeks ago snowboarding in Salt lake City.
Bummer to see K-dub retire. He is the man. Although I did hear he is still going to do the transfers at each SX this year.

Ya I try and be as careful as I can: test the snow, watch for previous slides in the area, watch the avalanche forecast websites, never go alone, have a Beacon, shovel, etc. We just try and be as careful as we can I guess.

Yes it is "out of bounds" there are several well know places close to ski resorts here in Salt Lake City. We get up by splitboarding. It's a snowboard that breaks apart into 2 pieces, then you put these "skins" on the bottom of the board to grab the snow and you hike up the Mtn to the top, put the board back together and snowboard down. It's pretty tough work at times bt you get some great turns.

I once climbed a mountain to seek wisdom from a monk who lived in a cave. He told me how to live in a cave out in the boondocks. Then he asked for some money to buy smokes.

I've only been skiing a couple times, but I thought it was the most fun thing I'd ever done aside from motocross (until I got into roadracing). To me, skiing felt like riding a motorcycle without having a motorcycle between your legs. Kind of like if you were a kid standing there, knees bent, pretending to ride a motorcycle - but actually riding, just without the motorcycle, lol. That's one of my biggest regrets since I had to go on disability with my back trouble - I was waiting for my youngest to get a few years older so we could take a bunch of skiing/snowboarding family trips. Just can't do it now. Still want to make a trip somewhere just to play in the snow, though.
