Do any of you have experience with black spokes? I assume in this pic of Reed's wheel, they are powdercoated and not anodized due to material? I assume the threaded end would need to be protected from the powder....what about the opposite end as well? I'd like to get my spokes to be black but curious what process people are using and results (holding up well or look bad pretty quickly)? Thanks!

You could anodize them. Not sure how powder coat would hold up. I powder coated my frame and thought I would see cracks or some separation in the areas where it flexed and haven't seen any as of yet.

I would check TCR and see what they recommend and if they know of anyone that makes them.

Pretty trick looking on Reeds bike though!

You can buy them black for a bicycle, I would guess you can buy them for a motorcycle.

No you can only anodize aluminum or Ti not steel. AL nipples can be anodized no problem. Rad Manufacturing sells those. And I believe they and also Warp9 sell black spokes. Here http://www.radmfg.com/RAD-Spoke-Nipple-REAR-Set-for-125cc-up-p/radsk-1r…
they are powdercoated.
Or here http://www.warp9racing.com/accessories_spokes.html
It doesn't say what coating these have on them.

tmauto769...Didn't know that. Thought they could be ano, but good to know.

Wonder how they make them for bicycles? They aren't powder coated but they come in different colors.

Dubya does the powder coating for Chad Reed and RCH Suzuki as well as most of the top freestyle riders in the world. Renner, Twitch, Sherwood, Sinclair, etc. They have been doing powder coating of spokes for several years.
