Tommy is a good guy will give you the shirt off his back .( Might be a bit big for some). Yes he is opiniated not a bad thing to be I don't agree with him or other people sometime at the track so should I also stay home or change sports.
As for as Damon I have seen this kid come a very long way and who's to say with his dedication where he will be.

Back to what the post was about
We are the one he refered to as "We're going to ride red bike " yep we are . If they (Honda) made a 2012 cr 85 We would have had one of those .also I think that a 150 in stock form is equal to one of those SXS or stock legal motors. We will run the 150 in whatever class they deem it legal. in with no objections and our old tired 07 cr 85 in the other .

Funny how MXSports changes the name of 85SR to Mini SR so they can allow the CRF150 when the AMA still has that bike banned from 85 SR. Can you say payed off by Honda. If this is an AMA race, AMA series and you need an AMA card to participate, why are they NOT biding by AMA rules and/or classes. So does this mean stock class rules are negotiable also.................no wait.....they already said the SXS is stock legal...................................

MX Sports runs the 150 under supplemental rules that are approved by the AMA. Every promoter runs classes under supplemental rules, for example, the 85cc 9-13 is not an AMA class but is run most everywhere.

To say payed off by Honda is just being uninformed. So you think they are willing to give up the money from Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha and KTM (all who are against it) for the support of Honda. I'm pretty sure all OEMs are sponsors at LLs and if you look at contingency payout, I would guess Honda is not the biggest.

Around here they do not run a 9-13, they run the AMA classes of 9-11 and 12-15. And paid off is correct. Double the displacement once again to compete and bike was not legal for how long and now it is, interesting.
In D18 they run Super Junior 9-11, 50cc Open, and 2 stroke open. I think all three are run under Supplemental as non of them are AMA classes. In D17 they run a 55 plus which is also not an AMA class. At all of the AMA amateur nationals they run a ton od stock and open classes which are not in the rulebook, but are run under supplemental rules. All promoters do it, not just LLs. The sup. rules have to be approved by the AMA and promoters are allowed to run the classes they feel work best for their event.

It is not double the displacement, that would be a 170. I don't know where the limit is. I'm pretty sure a 150 is not very competitive with a 112 and I know a 125 is not competitive with a 250F given equal talent. Time will tell if a 150 is a distinct advantage over an 85 or not. It was not a factor at all at LLs last year. With the rules NOT changing, it will make itmuch easier to just not approve a supplemental rule, it the bike starts dominating.

As mentioned above about 150F, and I am going to look, but if you show to the LL race and want to run 85 Sr, since its an AMA race, do they not "have" to run the class. I know its this way for woman/girls classes if its an "official" AMA class.

They have to rune the classes as advertised. In this case, Senior Mini is advertised as including the 150.

Slow old guy - thanks for the intelligent conversation !!!!
There is no such class as Senior Mini or Junior Mini in the AMA rule book. 85cc 12-15 is also not an AMA class. In yiour districe these are classes run under supplemental rules defined by the promoter, and approved by the AMA. The 2012 AMA classes were:

85cc 9-11
85cc 12-13
85cc 14-15

The beginning of section H on page 26 reads:

Any of the following classes may be run, but all must be run as
advertised. Additional classes may be run but must first be
approved by the AMA.

Mini Senior at LLs is a class not in the rulebook and is defined by the promoter as an 85 and 150 class. It was approved by the AMA. They did everything exactly as the rules allow.

Here is another question: AMA rule book says you do not have to purchase any other district card (than your own district) or sanction card if the race is AMA and you do not want your points counted. But if you go to Mini Os, which is an AMA race, you have to purchase an Unlimited Sports card for this one race only and your points will not be counted. Just a $30 payoff. We had fun at Mini O's but this is baffeling and according to the AMA rulebook, illegal

Unlimited Sports membership is not a District Card. It is more like a club membership. Lots of organizations require you to be members to race in their races. It adds another layer of liability protection to the promoter. It is a supply and demand type of thing. They didn't seem to have a shortage of people willing to pay for the membership.

But still against AMA rules. And yes I understand supply and demand and this may be their way of clipping the numbers but the cost of Mini O's is what keeps us from going back, as well as several we know that choose other races to hit instead.
Not to take you to task, but can you tell me where in the rule book it says a track cannot make you join their club or organization. That is completely different than making you join a district. For example, here in D29 I can't make you buy a D29 membership card if you live outside our borders. That being said I can make you join any other organization our series wants to ask you to. I can make you pay any fee I want. I got whacked with a $10 notary fee one time in D17. I had to join a series organization in PA one time and I have to join the NMA and the GNC to race in their races.

The unlimited sports card cost $25. Matt races down there about 4 times a year so it cost me about $6 extra per race. An extra $6 to know my son has the ability to race the best kids in the country on a very good track is just a cost of doing business to be. Compared to the fuel costs, lodging costs and equipment costs it is a blip on the radar. Anyone who skips the Mini Os over $25 doesn't really want to go that bad.

"If an AMA district membership in a rider’s home district isn't required, then when that rider competes outside their home district the rider isn't required to buy another district's membership card unless the rider wants to have his/her points kept and wants to be eligible for year-end awards in that district.

2. Additional membership cards specific to an event or series aren't required unless the rider wants to have his/her points kept for that series or event. Race entry can't be denied if the rider has a valid AMA and district card (where applicable). Entry fees can be altered at the organizer’s discretion for riders without specific series or event memberships."

section 1.1 general A.1

Now I understand, by the last sentence, that they will just modify their entry fee to compensate for the unlimited sports card. But it clearly states you do not have to purchase the card.

I understand the NMA and GNC cards because they are a different organization, but we are talking buying other cards when its an AMA race and you already have an AMA card

And its not about the $25 dollars issue, "principle" at my house does not have a price. I would pay $100 instead of someone robbing me for $5

It wa spreviously stated in this thread you could run up to a 125cc 4 Stroke in the 85cc class. However, Honda is able to run a 150cc 4 stroke. Whatever. With this in mind, would it be permissible to run the following bikes?

2013 KLX140L or would you have to run the KLX110L? What about the Yamaha TTR125LE? Suzuki DRZ125L? Would these even be competitive? Could they run in a modified class with modifications to make them competitive?

From my days on mini's backk in the late 80's and early 90's, I would never in a million years have thought these bikes would have been competitive.
