Best tracks/places to ride in central FL?

Edited Date/Time 12/26/2012 2:20pm
Me and my dad are taking are bikes to florida at the end of next week for vacation for the first time. What are the best places to go?

I might go to Croome but $65 is kinda expencive. Were going to be in Lakeland so its gotta be 1-2 hours from there.

Thanks!

What is that new MX track off of I-4 near Lakeland? It is next to the rest area. Is that the old Lakeland track that has been moved?

It's same owners they're having a tough time putting it all together. Right now private use only. I think the nicest track in central Florida is going to be East Bay MX have to wait until Aug 14th. http://www.eastbaymotocross.com/

Bartow is ok real sandy, they have an sx style and big outdoor track. If they'd let it get beat up a bit and rough and just groom the jump faces (only) I'd take my kid there more. Don't want him riding on a sandy freeway though, a lot of vet guys ride there and they get their way.

bostwick, pax, and waldo when they take care of it, are good places to ride as long as they keep the mini riders out of the way.

Yeah most of it. We only get to go there twice a year, in the summer and december but were trying to move there.

Well when you come down go to fun bike center and find me, that's where I work at. And as for clay, you will probably beat him as long as you don't fall lol

Hey guys, read your thread. My son is getting into MX and is getting pretty good. Would love to find a home track and ride with some local Lakeland people. Most all pay tracks are too far for single day riding. Let me know...

1. Even the idiot who works the front gate at Croom realizes there is a 8-10 year window where bikes didn't come with titles, so not everyone will have one.

2. I guess it's changed, but when I was growing up, it was open sun up to sun down 7 days a week. We used to get up there in the summer after work and get a couple motos in the front pit which makes even Lommel look like a freeway. Lommel doesn't get groomed for a day. The "front pit" hasn't been groomed in 35 years. it has whoops on top of it's whoops.

That used to be where the pros would come to ride sand before Daytona, after Tampa, back when Florida used to get 2-3 SXs in one year.

Shame to see it's fallen to idiocy.
