Here is a good starting point. Runs excellent with most current pipes, Circle F, Jemco, Pro Form. Would not recommend one of the newer stamped DG pipes though, waaaayyy too high revving.

Been meaning to ask the same question about the 32mm Mikuni on my 76 with the high pipe and Mugen replica silencer.

Try the same with the 32. If it's a screamer, go up on the main. Don't know that I've ever needed anything more than a 300 in any of mine .....except maybe when the kids or Warren Reid rides them.Blush

Depends on the exhaust. Different pipes are like night and day difference. Wrong pipe choice will have you hating the bike.

tested yesterday with the 32 stayed with 3.0 slide 3 down on clip results where good , going to try the 34 next weekend as bike still wants more fuel i think even though plug looked perfect. This bike has a retro rocket pipe that i know nothing about is there something better out there i should be looking at, trying to get more on the bottom and rev quicker.Suggestions on clutch?

Not trying to be a smart ass, I'm already good at that, but has an Elsinore from those days ever had any bottom end. None of mine ever did. 2-74s, 1-75, and 2-76s.Smile

I think the retro-rocket pipe is sold by Vintage Iron. Quite possibly may be made for them by Pro-Form. Should both be good pipes. The new stamped steel DG pipes you see on Ebay work good on a 74 cylinder with a 30-32mm carb but not good at all on the 75 or 76-78 with 32-34mm carbs. Very high revving pipe. CircleF and Jemco both make good running pipes for the CR's. The old DG and FMF pipes are a mixed bag as they made quite a few different pipes to compliment different engine packages and skill levels back then. Steer clear of spending big bucks on something rare that may or may not work.

And a stock 74 CR125 cylinder with a high comp head, 30mm Mikuni and the right pipe will actually have some decent low end power. Won't rev out like you'll want it to though.

Keep your eyes peeled for a decent looking stock 75 CR125 pipe and exhaust manifold. Try it and see if it gives you any added low end.

I have a stock pipe off a 1977 Cr125. I believe the 76 to 78 were the same pipe as the 1975 except they used the larger cylinder exhaust flange. I think both the 77 and 78 came with the ridiculos large silencer that erybody removed immediately. Newman can probably tell usif this is true. The pipe I have is in near perfect condition.
you can go to one of the honda parts web sites to check part numbers. They show the parts but are not available.

The 76-78 looks almost identical to the 75 model but overall is a little larger. The exhaust manifold as you mentioned is smaller on the 75and the 75 outlet is smaller diameter which would create a more backpressure. Little better low end from my experience.

Yeah, that gigantic spark arrestor is funky looking for sure but I would still like a NOS one for my project bike. Too damn expensive!

You wanting to sell the near mint pipe you have?
