Under the current circumstances, yes.

Crazy that the left even tried to hold the marathon. I wonder why Obama ignored Staten Island? He doesn't like white Yankees?

Would it have been a good idea to hold Mardi Gras the weekend after Katrina?

EARTH ? U.S. ? If you live in new york state you dont even want that city to be part of the state , its just a black hole for all our state tax dollars, when you get a speeding ticket in New York State , the town judge always reduces it to a traffic infraction so that the state doesnt get the money for the fine and it stays in the town of the infraction.

The thing that gets me is that Bloomberg didn't want Obama coming to the City right after the storm because it would take resources away from the recovery effort, but he was all for keeping the marathon going, which would also take resources away from the recovery effort. Seems like backwards thinking to me.

He was more worried about making sure the runners showed up with their wallets .

I noticed it says cancelled and not just postponed. Hopefully the donations from the marathon to the storm victims will still happen. If entry fees are not refunded, maybe they can contribute more. Bad deal either way you look at it.

Sorry if this is a repost, but hurricane victims were being asked to leave rooms that had been reserved by runners and race fans this set the residents off which I can understand.

CNN saying they are now going to move resources from Marathon (shitters, generators, etc..) to Statten Island where they are desperately needed. Pentagon is going to ship 24 million gallons of fuel to the area also.

Respect for the families and friends of all those that lost their lives in the storm should be reason enough to not hold the event. All the talk of commerce lost makes me sick.

I agree that they cancelled it. They should have done it Tuesday though.

Yeah, kinda shitty to wait until most of them were traveling or had already arrived.
