Seriously, what in the fuck just happened? Gas is literally 40 cents higher than it was yesterday. I'm am not informed on what is going on as to why there is an absurd increase all of a sudden.

Probably due to ethanol prices. Severe drought. Same shit here in canaduh. Ethanol is the most idiotic idea of the past 20 years. Add up all the diesel fuel used to grow the crops and transport to the distillery, the energy used to make the fertilizer, the nat gas used in distillation and there is no net gain. Never mind the fact that ethanol consumes vast amounts of water.

They were reporting on the news last night that CA has various refining issues last night. Oil is only like $91 a barrel. CA has more taxes on their gas and stricter EPA laws than like here in TX. Gas here is about $3.50

Yep exactly. Any other excuse brought up in this thread is total bullshit.

They charge what they can get away with, nothing else.

Keep farmers in business? No subsidies?

Sell the grain/corn to some with oil. Doesn't China need grain? Don't we owe them money?

I spent some time in central China. One thing that impressed me was that all the farmers are middle-aged. Once they get too old to work, there will be nobody to replace them. The terraced fields cannot be farmed by machine.
All the young people (little emperors) are in the coastal cities looking for self enlightenment. Are they going to tell a 24 year university graduate that she has to spend the next 40 years in a rice paddy?

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Shaw shot me down on my "we need more refinery's theory", unless you're saying that the old POS refinry in CA broke down again.

It would certainly make it easier for me to understand that it was Obama's fault...based on my limited intellect.

Immigration might be a fix for their problem (i'm sure it would be a headache though)

In regards to the Gasoline.. Why not ride a scooter or motorcycle to work?

I agree that ethanol is not beneficial.

So from what I am understanding, it is because refineries aren't resupplying? Only 14 total in the state. I need to move from here. The incompetence of the people in charge here boggles my mind.

On October 31st all CA gas is switched over to the "winter blends". Most gas stations will try to run out all their "summer blend" fuels before the switch takes place so they aren't stuck with the inventory. Apparently a lot of the gas stations ran out too soon and where stuck with the choice of reordering another run of summer blend fuel (the more expensive fuel) or trying to get the winter blend early. I don't think you can get the winter blend earlier that Oct 31, so they were forced to reorder the more expensive shit and because they had already ran out it put more of a strain on the refinery's to supply these dipshit gas stations in hurry.....which of course punishes us as far as the gas prices are concerned. It's all a fucking joke and even worse that they can get away with it.

This was taken about a month and a half ago. Check the diesel. It is higher now. Good thing it is tax deductible.

Yep.

But I gotta say, I like Racer92's take on it the best.

"They did it to themselves" T. Boone Picket on msnbc

and another thing (sorry got some issues today) the smog problem is due to the refineries in Huntington beach. I drove by a few years ago and there were miles of them. They blame cars as a distraction because nobody wants to lose money from refining.

I wish I could. My work truck at the minimum amount of stuff I need to take weighs 10K lbs.

Maybe the CA number? Well that is already a requirement though. Paper work and money. It's like a city business license is not really a license but a tax.

You guys are getting screwed big time.

The Koch brothers who are poster boys for Libertarianism receive government subsidies for ethanol. Since they donate a tremendous amount of money to both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party maybe they have the answer.

In my opinion your getting screwed too......just not as bad .....what do you you suppose 6 dollar diesel might do to the cost of all the things we transport? It's getting to where you'd better make a minimum of 150 k per year just to squeak by in life.

I have a saying at my company, " At *(&^%&^%^$&$ we bend over backwards but we don't bend over forwards"......... I will have to re-think that.
