Belgium missed a great chnace of winning the des nations this year and now might have to wait quite a few years untill they will be in the running again.
Next year due the age rule for MX2 Van Horebeek and Roelants will be too old to ride that class. That leaves them a bit short for a 3rd rider.
Theres a couple younger riders coming through Lieber and Getteman but they are a long way off putting in the kind of rides you need to get a top 3 or even 5 in the des nations.
Its a shit rule for des nations.

On home ground and on that deep sand Belgium just needed to win but it just was not good enough again...
Every year Belgium should be able to compete for the podium, i don't no anymore where else they gonna be able to win it.
Clement Desalle, ok i know that he don't like the deep sandtracks but then again he was second after Cairoli in Valkenswaard, did ok in Lierop, got injured but was fit enough to perform and for my feelings he just was not good enough.
Ken De Dycker, man what a first race, got his shiftpeddal bent with that run in with Barcia, made a little mistake but got by Leok again and then in the last few corners i think made another mistake and Leok got by him again. Second heat for my feelings not that strong, don't know what happend but just not enough to win the nations.
Jeremy Van Hoorenbeek, very good in that first heat, came in second 250, 2 heat very good start, 4th and then his bike gave up. That was just some bad luck...
Some talented young riders for the next years, maybe Lieber, Fors, thought i've heard that Getteman is gonne ride 450 next year.

I don't like the u23 rule at the nations either, it makes it even harder for small countries to compete, and give the US a bigger advantage than they already have. Lieber is pretty good on hard pack, but Van Horebeek on a factory MX2 kawi would have given Belgium a great chance again next year, esp since desalle is better on hard pack than sand.
You need your MX2 rider to be able to get at least one top 5- 10 ( or better of course ) finish to win des nations or put you in with a good chance and I think he will be a few years of that if at all.
Also Italy have only got Lupino for a option for 2 more years I think and then they seem pretty thin on good MX2 riders.
The 23 year rule really does need looking at if they want the best riders from each country.
Italy has a full crop waiting in the wings, Monticelli, Zeni, and also Bernardini in the EMX125, he's going to be good, a winner.
Getteman is gonna ride the mx1 bike for LS motors, i read somewhere
Monticelli and Zeni are way of the pace they are not waiting in the wings.

He will probably ride the Belgian Championship and other international races but he is open for any deal. German Series, British schedule, ... If anyone here search a very talented rider!
Yeah Kim has had a great season, working Jocke has helped him I believe. They remind me of each other the way they both go about racing, both have this never give up and fight all the way. i wish a few more Swedes rode like it!
