So I'm a 4-stroke guy and I bought a cheap '03 CR125 a few months back that I've been in the process of re-doing. Almost got it back together, just wanted to change the transmission fluid and was wondering what oil is recommended to run in the tranny? I've heard 80w90, 10w30 motor oil(doesn't make sense to me seeing as how it's a transmission, but what do I know), and 75w. So let's hear what all you 2-stroke enthusiasts recommend! Thanks for the help, and BTW the few times I rode this bike before tearing it all down was an absolute BLAST!

I've used the honda 80w90 in my 06 since it was new and no problems.

I use cheap Supertech 15w40 oil from Walmart in all my bikes' trannys.

Type F or Rotella will be fine.

Gasoline motor oil has to be non-energy conserving.

Bel Ray gear saver or the Honda tranny oil. When I've tried regular motor oil the shifting feels notchy and annoys the hell out of me.

Use the honda stuff for sure, and it's pretty cheap. bel ray always made the shifting feel notchy, and sometimes would make me miss shifts even, the Honda stuff is only $7 a bottle around here, and 2 bottles do 3 oil changes if memory serves. I use that in my 06 cr 250 right now and I love it compared to when I ran bel ray
