I personally do not think it 100% makes it worse......It does not help it by any means but it isn't TOTALLY the cause for arm pump. Do I recommend taking it? No. But I know lots of guys that do and have no issues. I didn't notice a significant difference between when I took it and when I didn't as far as arm pump is concerned, but everyone is different.

Question: Can you offer some basic concepts of training to prevent arm pump? Simply riding a lot and getting comfortable on the bike is the best cure, but what can be done other than riding?

I tend to lift ~3 times a week. Mostly 3-4 sets 9-12 reps each. I also run a fair amount. 3-5 miles each 3x during the week and a longer run on the weekends 4-7mi.

Your fitness/nutrition/training/stretching/hydration/supplementation all have a lot to do with this situation! Best advice I can give you is pretty simple but focus on your training/injury prevention and stretching in the gym. Also "relaxing" your hands along with proper breathing (this is usually the culprit) in the air helps, as dumb and simple as that sounds!
