Never wore one before. Been doing this sport for 30 years and I don't think I could get used to wearing one. I'm sure they help , but from reading on here and all over the net.....some people swear by them.....some people swear they caused the injury to be worse........and some just hate them because of restricted movement. Mixed opinions about these things every where.

Been doin this for 30+ years and would gladly wear something to protect my neck, but its to short, and my helmet almost touch my back protection as it is.

What I have always wondered since the Leatt came in is, why almost nobody wore a neck roll, but all of a sudden had to have a Leatt??
A couple of people in here saying their neck roll saved them and that was good.
The Neck roll is good enough, has always been, but, its NOT COOL??!!

About 5 years ago I got run over in a start crash, had tyre marks and was bleeding on my neck. Nothing broken but very sore. If I would have been wearing a neck roll, probably no tyre marks. If I would have been wearing a Leatt....scared just thinking of what coulod have happen.

Evereything is so personal and how you go about your type of riding and what your comfortzone is, but as I said, how can somebody live and svear by todays popular neckbraces when they wouldnt have put on the earlier ones?

You have a picture of a "neck roll ".....I have no idea even what that is , and I don't remember anyone ever wearing one. I'd be interested in seeing what it is exactly.

About a month after purchasing my first Leatt Brace, I had a pretty hard crash leaving me unconscious for 5 minutes and in hospital for a week with kidney damage (think my handlebar dug into my midrift). This is what my helmet looked like after:

I hit my head pretty hard to break the shell of my helmet, and I have no doubt in my mind that without wearing the Leatt brace I could have seriously injured myself, damaging neck and back vertebrae after landing on my head with such an impact.

I have worn my neck brace ever since I have got it, and don't even feel it on me any more. On occasion I forget to put it on, I feel naked!

I understand that there are maybe instances that the neck brace could cause an injury (as you could argue with 1 or 2 other bits of safety gear, not just in motocross) but I am certain that it prevents A LOT more.
sorry to quote the pictures! Here's a crash i had at the end of 2010 (only been riding for about 3 months on my 2005 tyla rattray 125!!)

Was the 2nd lap round and was getting a feel for the jumps, caught a kicker which sent me over the bars and landed face first, when i realised my nose and jaw and neck was hurting so bad i grabbed my face only to realise that i had no helmet on Laughing so i looked back up the track about 10metres away were my helmet was laying in 2 pieces!! I had a serious case of whiplash for sure!! Wasnt wearing a neck brace but i wish i was, could of ended very badly!
