I have a 2011 rmz250 with a stock tank on it (holds 1.7 gallons). I plan on doing my first hare scramble(2-hour race) next weekend, half the people I talk to say I can make the race on one tank of gas and the other half say I need to fill up half-way through. I know one guy who made the entire race on a newer fuel injected bike but he barely made it (he was on a 450 as well). I really don't want to stop and fill up because I will lose several minutes but then again being stuck in the woods on the last lap would suck too. Anyone have any advice or experience with this? Thanks

What class are you riding? Maybe do some testing to see how much fuel you use in a prescribed time.

B class, yea I think that is probably the best option, I did a test run last weekend...went through about 3/4 a gallon in an hour. It's going to be close either way! thanks

It would also matter what type of terrain the race is being run on. If you wear a fanny pack save a oil bottle and clean it out and fill it with fuel, make sure it seals good so it doesn't leak. You can also carry some fuel to top off the tank at the starting line.
