Get you a Clymer service manual, it will be your best friend.

Get a service manual. If it says less than .008 is too tight then it's too tight.

Well with the cases back together, if it can turn freely it should work right?

fatchick dude, that bike won't last the warm up when you start it. Good thing too, so you can't stick someone else with it. I still can't believe you are for real with this one.

Why should i listen to you?
Because you're asking for advice and then not listening to it when you get it. If you're not going to listen to what people who know tell you, then why even bother asking in the first place? Just do what you feel is good and stop wasting everyones time.

He's being a very negative dude, he's answered before and then I asked professional mechanics around town and they all said otherwise. So who's wasting who's time

Dood I'm not being a dick here so don't take this wrong, I work on these things for a living, your're flirting with disaster man. I'm talking crippled in a wheelchair disaster. 4 strokes have a lot of internal inertia, when they lock up it's bad, specially if you happen to be going up the face of an 70' table it's gonna be bad. IF THE MANUAL SAYS .0000 or whatever you are checking the clearance on than best go by the book. DON'T take short cuts it could get you hurt.

Don't get me wrong, its not like I ignore your input, I try and listen and learn. The manual list 0.000 clearance for a new one and 0.008 for a used one. I just don't want my motor to blow when i start it. It does rotate smoothly with the cases back together, I was just nervous.

you are asking for advice here, and then go ask someone else the same question, and then dispute the answer. Ask 10 mechanics the same question and you will get ten answers.
