I'm just taking a stab in the dark here, but I'm guessing that thing needs to be quieted down. Stupid Harley owners think the bikes just need to be loud to be cool.

Not cool, safe. People have a hard time seeing bikes coming on either side of their cars and if they can hear the noise they are more likely to locate the bike.

Why the stupid Harley owners comment, did some Harley owner do something to give you such an attitude?

Safe?? Come on, I know you know better than to actually believe that. You're starting to answer the question you asked me by yourself. I'm not going to hear that one coming towards me any better than the next Harley. I'll hear that damn thing as it goes by me and away from me for the next 45 minutes though.

Another thing with most Harely owners, they refuse to wear helmets. It's too bad some of those guys breed. I worked at an Army base where wearing a helmet is required. Every single day they'd pull out of the gate, pull over, take the helmet off, light up a cigarette, and take off. Gee, that's cool. It's too bad they don't pull out in front of a semi or something. One of the guys that do that was my boss. I asked what the deal was with it, and he says if he ever crashes his bike, even laying it down, he hopes he dies so he can't see what he did to his bike. Yes, stupid Harley owner. Claims that's the reason his friends that ride won't wear a helmet either. Where do those guys put the cigarette butts when they're done smoking them? I'm confident those bikes don't have an ashtray, so they're littering by tossing a lit cigarette onto the ground. Those folks ride all brands of bikes though, so I can't staple that onto just Harley riders.

Anyways, that's a sharp looking bike. it'd be bad ass if it were relatively quiet.

You obviously don’t ride a bike on the street. When you are coming up on a car with a quiet bike (I have owned two other street bikes both with quiet mufflers) it’s very common for the car to not see you and change lanes right in front of you. If they hear the bike it’s much less likely to happen. If that makes me a “stupid Harley guy” in your eyes then so be it.

BTW: I don’t smoke.

Har! That makes a ton of sense.

It isn't too often that someone in a car hears a bike coming up from behind them, no matter how loud the bike is. Windows up, radio blaring or on a cell phone...that's how it is today. They aren't going to hear you.

You're right, I don't ride on the street. Anymore. Sold that bike in December.
